    StFu idiot...

Algeri's eye was messed up by "one punch"????

The first KD started the slight swelling...The sustained "harder punches" made the swelling balloon, Margarito-style...

Having said that, youre the one that DKSAB!!

    go back to lubing up your ass f a g g o t...

The eye was badly swollen by the time Algieri got to the corner, and their inability to contain it meant that it was going to close at some point, no matter how marginal any contact might have been to that area going forward.

Had Provo's followup attack truly been sustained, the fight would have been stopped. It wasn't...and that was the reason why the fight made it to the final bell.

That's the essence of the disagreement. You just nailed it. In my book, the guy who is hurt during the fight needs to do something EXTRAORDINARY to win a decision. Algieri did not do that. He survived.

Specific to this fight, knowing Algieri had already been seriously hurt, I would have given all close rounds to the champion. Had Algieri had not gone down and showed more resilience I probably would have given more credence to his punches. But since I knew he was knocked down and hurt in the first round, I would have tabulated subsequent shots by Provo more significantly.

wow dumb. There is a method to scoring fights. Whether or not a fighter goes to the hospital is not a criteria for scoring. End thread.

I strongly disagree. Algieri showed plenty of resilience, he got caught by a punch that would have floored anyone. Ruslan certainly earned his 10-7 round, but I dont see why he should get bonus rounds awarded because of it.

The scoring takes place between the beginning of round 1 and the end of round 12.

Terrible way of scoring imo. If he was hurt early then we know that Provo can hurt Algieri easily so considering that Algieri adjusted and wasn't getting hurt anymore you could just as easily assume that Provos punches aren't landing cleanly and his aggression is no longer effective.

It's boxing, not "who looks better after the match."

it wasnt just the first round... algieri looked like the guy who took damage after EVERY ROUND.ruslan was totally unharmed by those "punch" if we can call that punches lol

Exactly, and it's not as though Ruslan doesn't bleed. He cuts easily. He had no damage done to his face. Not only that, but the two judges didn't give him any of the close rounds, even though he was the champion. I can just hear these same guys who are defending Algieri, if he were the champion, "well, Chris was the champion so he should have been awarded those close rounds by the judges." Can't have it both ways, fellas.
