Finally watched Bradley Marquez. Was not even close. Timmy dominated and is the most solid fighter after Mayweather when he sticks to a gameplan, aside from possibly Ward. :bbb
Yes. He looked terrible against pacquiao and provodnikov, the only other two fights that peaked my interest.
Bradley can box most certainly, I think most people allready knew that. Whether he can actually outbox fighters at the elite level is open to interpretation. Pacquiao outsped him for 7 out of the 5 rounds on my card, and Marquez being the slower of both hand and foot both outboxed and outlanded Bradley in clean effective connects. Both Pacquiao and Marquez' shots upon Bradley were cleaner and more effective its that simple. Bradley did'nt do enough punchwise to offset the the more effective shots being delivered and landed in either of those fights. If posing to the camera by turning your shoulder and still getting nailed by punches coming at you is your reason to state he's dominating, then there's not much I can tell you. Connects being close to equal, the actual effectiveness of the shots take precedent. If you dont abide by that scoring rule then you're making up your own scoring rules. Bradley to me = an exellent boxer, just not a great one.
I just didn't see it a close fight really. I love Marquez but he was flat-footed all night. If dominate is too strong a discription, fine. But the fight wasn't a close one. I can't understand how one judge could have possibly scored it for Marquez. I do think Bradley could give Mayweather problems early and then get out boxed. Fight probably will never happen though. Among the Top Rank welterweights I think it's pretty obvious Bradley is the best.
Try watching it again with the blinders off. You dont have to be on your toes and dancing for it to equate to not being flat footed. Watch the fight and just focus on what Marquez does defensively. Notice the parrying, they way he's picking Bradley's shots off with his gloves. Notice his waist movements, the way he's riding off the sting of the shots and evading many alltogether. Both fighters did it with the waist, Marquez did alot more defensively picking off shots with his gloves and setting up counters. They both were exellent defensively but because one dances on his toes and poses with his shoulder, one is supposed to think that defense is better than the other??? Marquez made Bradley miss and miss plently. I hate bringing up punchstats as I dont rely on them, but if you do, HBO's punchstat had Bradley landing at a 30% clip, they had Marquez landing at a 34% clip. That indicates to me that Marquez' defense was a little better. Not to mention that Marquez landed more power shots by 30 more connects. Even if you want to go by the connects being equal, the quality and effectiveness of Marquez' connects are better. After all that, you want to call it Bradley dominating Marquez? :nut Makes no sense what so ever.
I scored it proper 115-113 for Marquez. On second viewing I actually had it wider for Marquez but I always stick with my original score. The uneducated eye and they're in the majority, dont value the nuances of the game. The slight effective movements that serve a great purpose and set up effective shots. The parrying, the body shots. 115-113 Marquez. Poor HBO was left to wonder why after all their preaching about Marquez not throwing enough punches, punchstat ends up showing that the effective fighter was Marquez. Connects through 12 rounds were virtually equal. Marquez landed more power connects and he landed at a better %! Sorry my friend, but purely pointing out the pure facts, the glass on my stance is full, yours is empty! D:bbb
