Bradley was virtually unknown, he won a youth WBC championship, he fought to be the in the madatory WBC position, he flew abroad (to the UK) to beat the defending champion (Witter), and took back the belt (his first title, something Ward and Khan did not do). He has fought most of the best fighters in the division (outside of Khan), Unified titles (WBC & WBO), beaten undefeated fighters (Alexander), he has even fought fighters from other divisons (Abregu) and is now facing what some consider the best fighter in the sport pound4 pound (Pacquiao). He gets alot of criticism because of his style & because he is not so obviously talented people, believe him to be crude and clumbersome (not me). Like Froch & Tarver, I believe he does things that only people with a true boxing eye pick up on (and I don't mean headbutt's lol) Thoughts my brothers... Dipset4Ever
Agree. Can't really argue with what he has achieved so far. Unifying the division twice being a standout achievement.
Yes. He is in my eyes the #8 P4P and has been there I'm thinkin' since he beat Peterson. Including '08 through now would be recent to me and Bradley has a killer resume. In that span, I'd put his resume behind only Ward, Pacquiao, Donaire and probably a couple of Sergio, Moreno, Vitali, Wladimir, Nishioka, R. Gonzalez, JMM, Mayweather. Ward, Sergio, Gonzalez, and Moreno are the only ones on that list that would even qualify as "emerge(ing)" in the time since the start of calendar '08.
No, he looked like a decent fighter and was set to become very good possibly elite once he beat Alexander but then he ducked a matchup with Amir Khan because he didn't believe he could win (ie his lack of confidence in his own ability) and then set his sights on Pacquiao and decided he didn't need any other fights so sat out his contract just to sign with TR. If you want 'best fighters to emerge in recent years' look at the likes of Broner, Ward, possibly Bute, Gamboa etc. Bradley? no.
Ducking the rematch with Khan was definitely a hindrance to his popularity, but he is still one of the most accomplished within his own division. He's beaten better fighters than Bute and Broner have for sure, and has reigned longer and more consistently than Gamboa. Other fighters may have more potential, but he's for sure among the best to come up within the last 6 years.
