Yeah I agree with you about coaching. Spin bowling is a big issue when playing 20 over aside games in schools for the local clubs in the agegroup teams, because quite often you are just cannon fodder - with grounds being fairly small and wickets bland.

I think he is a chucker, but the usual subcontinental bias dictated - had he been a West Indian or New Zealander, he would have been banned for life. Akhtar ought to have been thrown out of cricket years ago for a countless number of reasons - I recall a disgraceful incident involving Matthew Hayden a few years ago.......

Akhtar should have been booted out long ago, but the Pakis have given him a top bracket contract - that is a mystery to all but them.

I think his commercial advantages must have had something to do with it.

Fastest man in the world and all that.

He's a bad influence on the entire team. Arguably he's ****ed up Asif's career. Asif was looking like potentially the next great bowler. Steyn has taken up that mantle now, but Asif to me looked like the next McGrath. He was quality. Now he's nowhere after his little episodes.

I think there are a load of bad influences on the team.

Akhtar is clearly the worst, but guys like Inzamam (religious obsession), Afridi (just a nutcase) and Mohammad Yousuf (erratic behaviour) don't help.

They won't be playing Tests for a very long time, most of their best players will just end up in the ICL wasting away.

Asif does have everything though, apart from a good attitude and positive influences it seems - certainly in the Test arena. I think he would be fodder in ODI's, but anyways....

Constantly changing his mind on whether he wants to play for the national side or in the stupid 20/20 tournaments....... allsorts of things - I will just log onto www.cricinfo.com and look on his player profile!

If you don't know why Afridi is considered a nutter then you clearly don't know cricket. Throwing a bat into the crowd in South Africa, fighting in the change rooms...... I could go on!

He does like a good ol' dance on the pitch when the umpires aren't looking...

Going to the Ashes this year? I went in '05 when we won by 2 runs on the last day. Class.

I might get a four day ticket for Headingley......

Quality night out there as well, so have week off work - its only £10 in a taxi home as well, £2 on the bus if I'm pissed early.

It sounds stupid but I was rooting for Australia then, the way they kept fighting in that Test match was amazing.

Hopefully the Test will start on a Thursday then it's only two days off - you usually get a result in four at Headingly.

Headingley is quality, especially in the summer when a lot of the students have gone home (otherwise it is WAY too busy)

Leeds is OK, but has dropped off badly in the past year - we do have an Ashes test this time, not sure when. Would assume August.
