Not sure actually whether something like this would be classed as a spoiler, something others would prefer to not know until they can watch the highlights tonight...? Well, either way, Saunders won TKO1 over Ghana's Kotey Neequaye. Conceded the first couple points to Neequaye, then floored him with a slightly sloppy left hook. Neequaye took the count, Saunders chased after him with more shots, and pole-axed him with a dead-on left hook to the belly. Neequaye was still visibly in discomfort for two or three minutes afterwards.
The first KD didn't even look like a good punch at all, more cuffing than anything. But the body shot was spot on.
I think from the title of the thread it's fairly obvious what the content is going to be, without spoiling it. I just wish others would bear this in mind when naming threads. As for this fight, it was a great finish. I think the 1st knockdown was actually caused by a body shot as well, the left hook just helped him on his way.
Anyone seen the other Saunders fight, Billy Jo? Fantastic performance against the a guy who bronze at the worlds. Watch it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/boxing/7552282.stm
It has been surprising how entertaing the boxing has been so far. Far removed from what we usually get from amature boxing.
great results for the two saunders. billy joe has a tough draw with a cuban in the next round, but he's got a decent chance.
Yep, he was on top of his game. Seems a nice guy too, brimming with confidence. Moves well. Very skillfull.
This guy is the most talented of the lot. If he performs to this level every time he'll get a medal, but we can't expect consistency from a kid. But long-term, this guy has more of a future than Gavin, or dare I say it Khan in the pro ranks.
How the hell can he be past European level? He hasn't beaten Romanov unless I missed it, or even anybody comparable. I don't dislike the kid like many, but he WILL get laid out cold against Romanov, or any top 10.
