What happens in these games will influence things a lot, clearly But at 18 will he want to remain Amateur for London 2012? Could be a while until we see him as a pro
I totally agree with you and the previous poster. He needs to move UP to domestic level not DOWN :deal
I don't see an issue with staying around until London. That would be sensible for his progression, and he'll also have a great chance of picking up a medal there on this evidence. He'll be 22/23, with a good amateur career behind him at that point. Perfect.
Got to go pro straight after the games. He is made for the pro game, don't waste four years for the sake of qualifying for London 2012. He could be fighting in front of massive crowds anyway by then, if he plays his cards right.
if he wins any kind of medal this time round i can see him getting big money offers to turn pro which will be difficult for any teenager to resist.
It is difficult to tell which is the best. BJ had the easiest opponent BTW - I would bet that people will be saying that Degale is the best when he schools the American :deal
no chance billy joe had the toughest opponent by a long way, the guy he fought was a bronze medalist at the worlds, he was expected to loose.
i so hope he does, i dont really know that much about the amatuers tbh, is the american decent? or should Degale win? id love the UK or Ireland to give any american one over.
Completely right, I missed it on the first viewing but on the second watch I saw him plant a left hook to the body and that was the one that sent his opponent down for the first KD.
yeah, bradley saunders had the weakest opponents of the lot so its difficult to judge him until the next round when he fights french boxer Vastine who is considerably better than the ghanian.
Yes, the standard has been excellent, but unfortunately you still get the crap 'look at me' over officious referees and blind judges who can't see when a punch has CLEARLY landed
