Shite, it's all increasingly coming down to Price to do the business, and I feel he may have already had his day in the sun. I hope that's not the case.

Moaning about scoring is poor, they just haven't performed, simple as that.

Fortunately for the ABA, admist a lot of hoopla and optimism about the squad, they publicly declared they were aiming for 2 medals. Not 2 golds either, just 2 medals.

It would've been easy for them to get carried away and predict the moon and, given todays bad day, would've been looking much worse.

The Gavin outcome shouldn't be underestimated, he was seen as the virtual nailed-on medal guy (and hopefully gold) and then we'd just need someone else to do well. With Gavin gone that's all up in the air.

Still. We've got 1 through to the Quarters, and have 3 more Brit boxers to have their 2nd round fights yet. Let's see how we do.

As for GB's performance in the Olympics overall, it has been a pretty threadbare couple of days but Strike it totally right, we're streets ahead of where we were this time at the last Olympics. The sailing, rowing and cycling sportspeople all look very strong medal shots indeed.

This weekend will be the real make or break!

I was never impressed with our medal chances but had hoped for a few quarter final appearances from our guys. The Franki Gavin situation has ****ed up our chance of a medal. One of any colour now would be an amazing surprise. Hopefully Price can get his way forward and into a semi final place. Cammarelle looks to be in very good form though.

I wonder how all this will affect the funding for 2012 and our guys? I can see us losing quite a few of the top names and up and comers to the pro's after these disapointments.

I'd have to think that, almost regardless of the outcome (I'm looking at you, judo team), cutting the funding in the build up to an Olympics on home soil would be a phenomenally barmy thing to do.

If ever there's a time to go balls-to-the-wall with cash, that's it.

To be honest none of the fights I've seen so far have been worth watching its like watching Witter v Corley on a constant loop.

either that or you end up screaming at the tv at the obvius scoring shots that don't count. Its becoming a farce !

Frankly the judo team deserves its funding cut. We have gone to every Olympics in my living memory with apparently great judo medal prospects and people expected to be outside chances for golds and every time they fail to deliver.

I would much rather see funding put into more Olympic pools, continue to support cycling, rowing, boxing and sports where we have consistently produced talents even when the facilities have been average or poor.

I disagree to an extent. I thought Billy Joe Saunders in his opening fight was outstanding. Against the world number 3 he performed very well and had wonderful footwork.
I also thought the Ukrainian Olexander Usyk in the Heavyweight division was excellent to watch against the Chinese fighter.

But yes other than that it has not been great.

I often wonder just how good a coach Terry Edwards (and his team) really are??? I'm sure we all know the ABA are a complete farce as an organisation from top to bottom;the Richie Woodhall situation was a clear example of the ABA at their worst.
I know we don't hear all the corner work during the minute break, but from what little I've heard from Edwards he just seems to be 'cheerleading' with comments such as 'Come on son, you've got to step it up' or 'Come on son, think of all the work you've put in for this'. IF that is the extent of advice given between rounds then I could do just as well. What is needed is a clear instructions on HOW to beat the opponent and not just 'cheering him on' with a motivational pep talk

Audley went to the Sydney Olympics without Terry I read somewhere and he brought back the gold.

So they trained 5 times a day In Sheffield for ages like the suits claimed, which Is more than what pros train and get so much money spent on them and can;t last past the 2nd round?

Bradley Saunders is getting some negative publicity after his loss - full back page of today's Daily Mail is running a story suggesting he said he was glad he lost because he was homesick. Article critical of the £140,000 (apparently) funding he accepted.

He should be caned for admitting he wanted to get home.

Very few people get a chance to represent their country in an Olympic games. For that they should be eternally grateful, instead of bleating like a little child :deal

Oh, don't be so ****ing ridiculous Faisal...you only have to listen to an interview with the likes of Price or Jeffries to show otherwise.

I see the French guy won again. And his semi looks very winnable.

In other words Bradley should've got to the final!
