This would have been a solid undercard for Showtime Championship boxing, not main event material, though. Alexander, while talented, is a weak mandatory based on accomplishments, which he has none to speak of.

Yeah - the WBC only "let" Bradley fight for the WBO Title on the understanding he would immediately vacate.
    Idiotic.

**** Witter, Bradley thoroughly outclassed him. I won't recognise the new holder of that belt ... nothing but a paper champ in every sense.

This is ****ing stupid. They're just placing unreasonable demands on the fighters.

Neither of these guys are the legitimate champion at 140. That's still Hatton until he loses at the weight.

It's not like, say, 168lbs where there's no absolute consensus champion. The titles hold a little bit more weight in some other divisions.

There is truth to this. However, Hatton is only going to fight set-ups and mega fights. Guys like Bradley will never get to fight for the ring belt as long as Hatton has it.

I read an interview with Suluiman where he said that the WBC only "let" Bradley fight for the WBO Title on the understanding he would immediately vacate.

Alexander is mandatory challenger by name alone. He's where he's at because Don King is pushing him to the moon.

Good or bad you have to fight the guys that they tell you to fight in order to keep the belts. In the old days this was never a problem, but today fighters are looking more to get paid more money that they dont care about titles, and WE the FANS have devalued titles so much by buying PPV's with cards that dont have any champions on them, WE have made boxing into a money first sport.

To be fair he has been the mandatory for some time now.

I'm sorry but if Bradley took a fight with Devon Alexander it'll be a massive step back for him right now. He's had 19 fights...and he never won a title eliminator to put himself into title shot contention. In fact he's 1 fight removed from fighting Christopher Fernandez, a 16-5-1 nobody. Apparently that fight was enough for him to become a mandatory for the WBC crown.

I'm not saying it's right to deny mandatory challengers...but if you ask me, a Mandatory challenger should beat somebody that they can hang their hat on. Not 16-5 and 9-3 type opposition.

Alexander wasn't a tough fight, represented no financial gain and only got his spot because of a fight promoter who was relevant to most people 10 years ago.

How is winning a very close SD outclassing? It was a close fight and Witter winning it wouldn't be out the question, think I had Bradley winning only because of the KD

Its not Witter's fault Bradley won't defend against his mando

Who'd he beat to become mandatory though?

Sun-Haeng Lee? Miguel Callist? He was just given mandatory status.

It was a SD in name only. Anyone who saw that fight saw it as a clear UD win for Bradley. He dropped and had Witter lost for the majority of the fight.
