This is why Cherry will never be a champ. He is telling anyone who will listen that everyone in the LW division is afraid of him. I feel that everyone is busy right now in mega fights. With this said, now he wants to move to a division to lose at 140 again. It has to be the money. Patience is a virtue. If he loses and goes back to LW, who would want to waste their time with him. He should remain at LW and keep busy until a title shot materializes. Again, a title shot does not come everyday.
You guys are too funny, but yes I totally forgot about him jumping over 140 ranked fighters. I guess that is the new thing now, fighting guys one or two divisions under you. He just became a champ and it does not look good. I know he does not pick his opponents, but he has some say.
Lightweight contender Edner Cherry contacted this writer and informed me that he has just signed his contract to face current WBC light welterweight world champion, Timothy Bradley. As of right now it looks like this fight will take place at Mississippi's Beau Rivage Casino & Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi. The fight will be part of the Nate Campbell vs. Juan Guzman card scheduled for September, 13th, 2008. http://www.boxingherald.com/news/117/ARTICLE/1380/2008-08-01.html
I ranked No.572 in the LWW division with WBC so I should be getting my Mandatory WBO shot any day now.
