He almost lost to Antillon, as well.

I agree completely with the OP. Great potential & fun to watch, but Rios comes from the Paul Williams school of "all offense, no defense."

    ----------

The other most overrated fighter on ESB, in my opinion, is Bute. I just don't see it.

It is true, that Rios is the most overrated hype-job here on ESB.

Rios has yet to be tested against the likes of Katsidis, Juan M Marquez, Soto, Juan Diaz.

Miguel Acosta, and Urbano Antillon were not real tests.
Both are B-level boxers. One is a hit-n-run B-level boxer, the other is a B-level slow "burned-out" puncher.

    Anthony Peterson was a joke.
No one cares to mention his name, since Peterson ducked Humberto Soto for a June 5th showdown at Yankee Stadium.

:deal His wins over Anthony Peterson, the better one of the Peterson bros, Antillon, who gave Soto hell, and Acosta were all very impressive and all ended in stoppages. Hes not a boxer hes a brawler and is very good at it.

Rios is the next big thing in boxing, no doubt

  5. He's much better than last year's hype job that was Devon Alexander. Just sayin'.

Brandon Rios is a great fighter. He comes to fight, has a Margarito sized heart, and decent boxing skills. That aside however, his lack of a strong defence (does have some but is lacking) will get him in trouble and soon. I honestly predict he will struggle badly or lose once he steps up his competition up a couple notches.

  8. He blew away the best 135 had to offer--JMM aside. Not saying he can do the same @ 140, but at the very least he'll be competitive ala Maidana.

Yup, agree with that. He's an outstanding fighter no doubt about that. Brings his A game everytime. Moving up, at least for now with his limited defense is not a good idea. He outgunned Urbano, who is not a big fighter. He's most likely bring the same gameplan against the 140 fighters if he doesn't work on that defense, which can spell doom for him since they can take more of a punch, hit harder, and are more skilled.

He's going to have to work on that defense and fight smarted in order to be competitive at the higher weights, it's not impossible for him.

Rios ducked many that the 135 had to offer--

Rios ducked Juan Diaz many times.

Diaz called out Rios many times and Rios ignored him, so Diaz went as far as calling out Rios in Rios'

page, and Rios still ignored him.

Here's a true copy from Juan Diaz

page, where he calls out Rios, but Chicken-Rios ignored:lol: Juan Diaz.

Rios has also ducked Victor Ortiz, John Murray, and now is ducking Mercisto Gesta.

Its funny how Rios says he'll fight anyone at 135lbs, yet ducked many fighters there.:patsch

you've never heard of Julio Cesar Chavez, Arturo Gatti, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Humberto Soto, Juan Diaz?

They all were fierce Lighweight World Champions, after Durans' era.

Defense is pretty solid actually and I don't think there are a couple of notches left to step up on. About half a notch may be.
