This should really be 1984 vs. 1987 versions, because by 1990, Chavez had grown accustomed to the 140lb. division by then. And I'll go with Chavez to break Bramble down and stop him in the mid rounds.
I love Bramble and have seen most of his fights, so here's my take. Chavez/Bramble would have been a total war in 1984. The version of Bramble that beat Mancini would have been right in front of Chavez and been able to match him strength wise, and Chavez in '84 was just at the beginning of his career, although stopping Mayweather and Bumpus in his 7th and 8th fights shows his learning curve was steep. I think that Bramble's edge in experience would win out here over Chavez's youth and body punching. Bramble was active and able to pick off shots of guys that fought him in close on the gloves. This would be an ebb and flow fight with both guys landing in the trenches, but I would take Bramble by a narrow decision based on experience. The 1990 version is easy. Bramble was largely faded after the Rosario fight, and although he did have some good performances, his legs were never quite the same. He lost close fights in '90 to Cardona and Martin (shoulder injury in that one), but Chavez was too strong for him at that point. I'd take Chavez by tko within 10 rounds. Bramble called out Chavez several times later in his career, after he knocked out Harold Brazier for example and was hovering in the top 10 at 140, but then would go on to lose and the fight was never that close to being made.
Ah, o.k., I misread it. 1990 version of Chavez to take a narrow decision over the 1984 version of Bramble in a war, something on the order of 144-141 (because it would have to be 15 rounds).
Chavez by stoppage in 11 or 12 rounds. Rosario destroyed Bramble and Chavez took Rosario apart. I know that's not always a fair indicator but Chavez just had too many weapons.
Mancini couldn't handle Bramble when "Coco-nut Head" went into the southpaw stance. Mancini isn't Chavez.......Chavez was a destroyer of all styles until the opponents got just "too" big.
Like Vinny Paz said, any one who comes to fight and win gets knocked out. who ever shows up to survive goes the distance. Vinny paz said somthing like this during the Camacho vs Chavez prefight build up reffering to Chavez. Bramble would be there to try to fight and beat Chavez... This would mean Duva steps in at the end of the 11 to stop the beating. Chavez has his tradmark cut on the bridge of his nose while Bramble has a swollen left eye courtesy of the straight right , swallowing blood and broken cheek bone
Bramble is competitive in the first six rounds but is 4-2 down but after this is worn down and stopped around the 10th or 11th
