Branco won split decision 114-113, 114-113, 113-115. i had lynes winning 114-113 with a knock down of branco in the 2nd but it was over in italy and the decision went against him I didnt think Branco did enough to win the title!
Didn't see the fight myself but your the only person I've read who seems to think Branco won. Most posters are saying it was a robbery.
I had Lynes winning by a solitary point, but it was no robbery. Were did you get the McGuigan info from.
Again I stress the fact I didn't see the fight so I have no particular opinion of the fight. I do feel however that there should be zero tolerance for hometown bias. I t may have been a close fight but no one is saying Branco won the fight. Therefore it sounds probable that Lynes was ripped off even if the fight was close. Boxing should be an even playing field and hometown bias should be treated with the contempt it deserves. Remember the farce of a judge scoring for Junior Witter against Bradley last week?
Jim watts scoring was a joke for this fight. Go over to the british forum here and at Boxrec if you want to know the tuth. Lynes was robbed. Most people onbly gave Branco 3 rounds, ffs.
I had Lynes winning by 2 points, but it was a close fight, no way it was a robbery. Like another poster mentioned it yet, Lynes threw the fight away in the 2nd half of the fight, he simply did not enough to win in another country against the hometown- fighter... not a good performance by both fighters, if the feather-fisted Branco hurt Lynes sometimes, than it worries me...
It was Jim Watt. I can dig it though; irish and scottish accents are similar enough to each other in a way.
I thought Jim Watt was spot on as he usually is.... Lynes started well but Branco took over the fight and on home soil the decision was inevitable.
Im not being funny here but if you feel you think Jim watt was spot on Im giving up with boxing. He was so biased against his own man (like always) it was unreal! Maybe i should start watching WWE for a fair uncorrupt contest! lol
I have a question tho the Brits here: After seeing how shot Branco looked after the first rounds, I wanted Lynes to win, he´s the hungrier and younger fighter, but I was so damn surprised that Branco was able to hurt him, did Lynes showed a bad chin in the past or anything like that?
How was Jim Watt biased? Adam Smith and Jim Watt both wanted Lynes to win and tried to look for the positives for him throughout the fight. Watt was simply being a realist towards the end. Have you never heard the phrase if he's going to win he needs to win big? Lynes was fighting on Branco's home turf. Wake Up !!
Lynes has no power, i guess Branco sussed this out towards the end. Chin is ok but not great, he usually hits and moves so rarely tested.
Well he got knocked out by Lenny Daws who isn't a massive puncher, and Malinga who is a somewhat decent puncher. This was before he sort of reinvented himself of course... He's also take some solid shots from Junior Witter... Branco is a reasonable puncher himself, and looked quite a lot bigger. Not china or anything, but not outstanding
