Brandon's big brother Omar was notorious a handful of years ago within the boxing community, for routinely getting involved in machismo and violence filled wars that left everyone in attendance gasping and applauding. His match against Arakawa was hands down a FOTY short list candidate and still stands out to me years later for it's sheer insanity years later.

Brandon seems to come much from the same mold so far, an all action switch hitting body snatcher who's still only 21 years old. While that style is great for the fans, it can leave the fighter somewhat vulnerable. Brandon was ever so briefly wobbled by a wild left hook from Adalberto Zorilla in the third round while closing in for the finish, for instance. He recovered instantly and did finish the fight with his patented body work.

Brandon is a very violent fighter, not the sort who mercifully takes you out with one punch. He's more of a death by a thousand lashes from all angles sort of fighter and considering how tough but hittable his opponent tonight Oscar Escandon is, this bout tonight is basically snuff level match making. I'm looking forward to it.

Anyone else excited for all the potential wars we might see MiniFig in the next several years? Escandon is a great springboard and name.

I don't expect Brandon to get rid of Oscar as fast as Nyambayar did... Tug is far more clinical, precise and outright hits harder than Brandon. Tug is one of the dark horses of the lower weight divisions, in my opinion. I do think Brandon grinds down the diminutive and out sized ex-champion tonight though. Should be fun!

Said he needed a break from the sport after the Demarco fight. Remember how his face and even head swelled up during that bout?

He did comeback and blew out the Ghost. Don't know why he doesn't have anything pending now.

Well he was supposed to fight Broner in april, but he suffered a shoulder injury and had a DUI if my memory serves correctly.

Going back to Brandon, do you think he can capture a world title at featherweight?

Featherweight? I'm not really sure to be honest. I was under the impression he was going to attempt a title at 122 first, and then move up. I don't think that's outside of the realm of possibility that we see him as a titlist in the next few years, we all know how easy it is to get a title in most of those in-between ******* divisions.

He's a massive weight cutter, just like his brother. The Showtime team reported that he re-hydrated from 122 to 139 pounds, which is an enormous amount of weight. Doubly so since he's fighting a 5'1 blown up bantamweight.

Tonight could be ugly. Just thinking out loud here.

Early in his career I saw him spar many many rounds. He works hard and is a good guy, as are his father and brother. I saw him weigh in for a fight at 119 and change and he looked like somebody starving to death. He got off the scale and started drinking Gatorade; you could actually see him grow

Think he has anything to worry about against a faded Escandon? Oscar is limited, but tough, willing, always coming forward throwing bombs.

I'm not familiar with the other guy but I don't think he was picked to cause problems. He sounds like Edgar Cantu, a guy Brandon sparred with back when Cantu was Texas state championship.

Yes. I didn't even know Omar had a little bro. If he's not legit Escadon will take him out.

He's only 5'1. Small, even for a lower weight class fighter. Has upset some good fighters and been in there with a slew of talents the past few years, though his results are mostly poor.
