I think he can take Rios punches much better than Rios can take his punches. Rios is already showing signs of brain damage, the slurred speech, the sluggish movements, dull reflexes were all clearly evident against Pacquiao. Provodnikov's footwork and defense are much better than Rios and he doesn't even have to stay on the inside and take Rios assault but he has too much heart to back down from a brawl and frankly he would come out on top on the inside too. I guess your logic is that the one dimensional Rios inside fighting skills are way ahead of Provodnikov's because Provodnikov is more well rounded but to me that's a flawed way of thinking, at the highest levels of any sport, very rarely are things black and white like that.

    Both hit hard.

    However, Provodnikov is faster (IMO).

On the other hand, Rios is as good as they come on the inside.

I think this would be a very competitive fight.

Not sure who would win... but I'd probably be rooting for bam bam.

true, I'm just trying to make a case for Rios because people just seem to be writing him over right away.
Rios has always been like that. There's no version of Rios that would win a round vs Pacquiao.
I agree about Ruslan's footwork, but like I said, I think his tendency will be to come right at Rios which plays into Rios's hands. And please don't put words in more mouth.

Ruslan vs Pacquiao would make sense, but neither guy want the fight because they're friends and both train under Roach.

Marquez said he wants a Bradley rematch or retire. It's too bad, because I'd like to see him fight Ruslan. Khabib Allakhverdiev vs Ruslan Provodnikov would make a lot of sense. If Rios is staying at 147, then he can fight Jessie Vargas.

Bradley would be a good match for either, (rematch in ruslans case) what are the odds of unifying any titles?

if it's a dog-fight im gonna have to pick rios, unless Ruslan tries to box, which i don't think he has the ability to do.

gonna be fun to see how Ruslan reacts to someone he can't hurt and keeps coming at him.

i've commented on their styles as inside fighters in the Broner-Ruslan thread

You can't take him seriously. That's the same guy who stated that "Broner would eat Ruslan up on the inside."

That fight is all wrong for Rios at this point in time. He needs a crumbcake or two right now. Manny beat the he!! out of him.
