We've never seen anyone consistently attack Rios' body or at least I haven't. Marquez throws beautiful body shots and with that soft body Rios has, he just might slow down his freight train if he gets hit in that area. We've seen Rios get nearly staggered by Acosta therefore he can be hurt. JMM is very determined, accurate, and intelligent. Today's version of JMM knocks out Rios. A year from now? The opposite would likely happen.

I wouldn't bet the house on my prediction though. Rios is one of the those guys who never gets tired whereas we've seen JMM sucking wind at times. Could be the big difference in the fight.

It would be an awful mistake to put Rios in against Marquez........
......my goodness, Rios needs more experience at the championship level......
.....and though Rios showed balls, heart, and determination tonight vs Acosta, that only takes you so far when you're up against skill at the very elite level.

A similar fighter to Rios, Katsidis......at least had experience against some of the very best lightweights, Casamayor and Diaz......

This fight wont happen because Roberto Garcia is smarter than that.......but if it were to happen, Marquez would ruin Rios, as Rios would never be the same.

I could see Rios landing regularly and probably knocking JMM down just like Katsdis did, who I don't think was ever as good as Rios.

Yes I don't want RIOS to get Juan DIAZED... I want him to be top level and earn experience if he can continue to improve he can be unstoppable.

Rios should clean up the 135 pounders like Soto, Guerrero, Kats... and then move up :smoke

Marquez would box and counter rios early. maybe get knocked down in the process. Later Juan Manuel would start to break him down. rios would get hit with punches from places he did'nt know existed. Dinamita would throw a lot more body shots than Acosta did. Even a tired slowed down Acosta was landing counters against Rios. Can you imagine if that had been Marquez ? When Marquez puts his bac to the ropes he is deadly. Brandon Rios is not ready for Juan Manuel Marquez at 135 !

Rios is young and stronger with greater punch resistance than anyone in lightweight division. I think he is better opponent than Juan Diaz. Having said that, Rios will prevail against Marquez in the later rounds.

Marquez may give Rios competition in the early rounds but in the end due to age Marquez will gas out and give way to Rios' brawling style and eventually knock him out with a flush and a body shot. Marquez should stay away from this guy. Limited as he is, Rios's youth and strength will compensate for his skill deficiency. Let's face it, Marquez has slipped due to age. He got tagged by average fighters like Jandaeng, Jaca, Diaz and Katsidis. A relentless fighter like Rios will finish him off eventually.

Marquez eats him for dinner. Let's be real now, a pressure fighter with decent power and a less than mediocre defense isn't going to trouble Marquez no matter how big around the middle he is.
