...to say he "is nothing special" or "He doesn't have technical skills and knows only one way to fight" is not only unfair, it is incorrect. Brandon uses the "seek and destroy" method because for him, it works. People don't give him credit for not only his ability to take a punch and subtle defensive technique to roll with and slip a punch. Brandon began to develop and learn that style from his father Manuel Rios a the age of 8 at the Bad Boyz Boxing Club in Garden City, Kansas. Manuel and trainer Robert Gonzales still teach the "never take a backward step, aggressive style" still today. At the age of 24 and with 27 wins and 20 by KO. Brandon is something special and though he has a lot to yet learn. He has done an amazing job in the ring to be where he is today. I for one am very proud of him.

He seems likes a good fighter to me, we'll see where he goes.....

There will always be people who dislike a fighter and those who support

I dont think he has much of a defense to be honest and I think if he meets someone who can take his power he will be in trouble because I believe he can be outboxed

A pressure fighter with iron chin and very good jab is going to be a nightmare for any other boxer. They are matching him very good. I think he is going to have a very good career.

I do not really like Rios the person (from what I can tell from his "image" anyway), but as a boxer, he has my respect, and it only went up after his performance this weekend.

He went through adversity, and never once came close to having his will broken, and that in itself is a great accomplishment.

And, yea, he has alot to learn, but who doesn't? I think his name, will be around for sometime at the world, or at least near world, level.

    Agreed.

It takes a special kind of fighter to effectively execute that kind of style. I will not underestimate him again.

Depends on what your definition of "special" is. He's special in a sense that he can win a title but if he wants to be very special in an All Time Great sense, he needs to improve. Because he's still young, he was able to walk through a few good fighters. But common sense tells us he will eventually get outboxed or knocked out by an elite if he doesn't become a better fighter. Ask Margarito and he'll tell you it takes more than just a strong will, a good chin, and a ton of punches to get to an elite level. Marg was knocked out even before he could finish celebrating his win over Cotto. That's how fast the rise and fall process can be. Ask Barrera and he'll tell you he's glad he changed or enhanced his style in order to prolong his success in the sport.

offensive minded fighters are often underrated. He's good, but he's also got a lot of improvements to make and he recognizes that. That doesn't mean he should change his style at all.

I really did not think he was anything special when I saw him on the telefutura cards a couple of years ago. I dont know if he improved or if he just had an off night but ever since the Peterson fight hes looked like a new fighter. The guy is a throwback fighter I wish him the best.

No the dude is a special fighter. He walked over 2 very good fighters, beating the better of the Peterson bros and a guy that was a solid world champ. Those shots by Acosta would of floored any other LWs.

I actually appreciate his candor, atleast he doesn't come across as fake the way DLH always did. This kid can fight ( no I'm not suggesting he will be an atg) but man I can't believe people are denying him his due.
