i agree with this. Im not a particular fan of Rios and his "mayorga-esque" personality. He seems to really suffer from a sense of self-discipline, more than anything. Specifically pertaining to his diet. Unfortunately, there's only so much a trainer can do himself. Its not like Robert Garcia is gonna be his daddy and forcibly stop him from getting fat.

Trying to drop and shed weight so drastically in so little time eventually will pay a toll on a person, and it finally caught up to Brandon Rios. I think he could have had a much better performance if he was able to stick to a regimented diet and came in at the appropiate weight the first time around...

I'm going to watch this fight. I can say from reading about it I'm not at all surprised. I've been skeptical of Brandon's discipline, and stylistically he has proved us nothing (no improvements from fight to fight). You have to wonder that the hell is going on at the Rios camp as well as w/ Garcia. I'm also going to have to reevaluate Garcia's stock after this debacle. Should have predicted it after the weigh in news.

    :yikes:fire What the ****?!!?!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for anyone who hasn't seen the fight, I just watched it and had it 10-2 to abril, and I was being generous to Rios.

That is a typical 'protect our asset' type of scorecard. **** im so angry.

fair enough I can understand scoring for aggression, but Rios was just plodding all night, hit nothing but shoulders and gloves.

Rios got shown up there. I dont give a **** about his 'struggled to make weight' excuse, simple fact is he got schooled and relied on the judges to screw over abril.

I hope they do press ahead with a Rios vs JMM fight, because JMM is gonna make him look exactly like the ordinary brawler that he is.

    **** Rios

Honestly you're like a bunch of women on here. Rios looked bad against an opponent who came to spoil, this was after draining himself and looking like absolute **** on the scales for the last few fights.

Robert Garcia and Freddie Roach are both great trainers, certainly two of the best yet when one of their fighters lose or perform badly then they are overrated, overhyped frauds.

It's pathetic, you all need to get a grip of yourself.

Not really- this is a pattern with Rios. I don't see how you can assess Rios has any chance against a skilled boxer, or even moving up to light welter weight. He has shown now improvement over an extended period, added to the weight issues. This is NOT a one off and is a poor reflection on himself most importantly, but also his entire team, to include Garcia. Sometimes reality hurts.

I think Marquez beats Rios by decision but Marquez is a special special fighter. Rios gives anyone at 140 hell and I'm certain he knocks Khan out because he brings unrelenting pressure which Khan doesn't deal with well. Also he wouldn't have to go through hell just to make weight.

This doesn't mean that Rios and Garcia are overrated, overhyped or frauds.
