Yes, however Acosta likes to fight off the ropes. Had, Acosta kept the fight in the middle of the ring the result would have been different. In general any fighter that moves back is vulnerable to Rios, which is why Gamboa did not want any of Rios.

Skill-wise perhaps. But he is easily one of the most entertaining fighters going today and shows a lot of heart. That's all we can really ask for.

Bull****. A boxer will ALWAYS have problems with a pressure fighter in their prime. ALWAYS. You can only run and create distance for so-long. A pressure fighter will get close to you and will hit you. Two things a boxer is trying to avoid. A boxer will expand more energy running away and creating space rather than fighting with the fighter.

Yes that is why Hopkins has so much problem with Trinidad, and Arguello with Chacon or Mancini, etc... If you are in shape you can fight back wards all day long, u are the BS here, beside the pressure fighter has to cover the same distance than the one going back wards, you need stamina that's all.

Gamboa lacks lateral movement and tends to get into brawls and losing his temper. Rios would back him into the ropes and put him down for good.

If he is so good why would he walk away from 1.1 million dollars and a high exposure fight that would have made probably him a top ten p4p fighter

I don't think any boxer, specially a guy with a Olympic Gold Medal, over 350 fights in the amateurs, Ring Magazine FW Champion of the World, has never face a boxer with a losing record, right from the get go he fought punchers, boxers etc.. has any "miedo", he was getting screw and right or wrong he decide that he has to stand for himself, he was banking on the event to get a better deal, it didn't happen and now the court will decide, but afraid? I'm sure is not in the equation, but some ppl like to put down guys instead of looking at the whole picture, do you know how many fights and biggest than this one has been canceled for alot less?

can't argue any of this. solid post.

i'll just say that after watching a little bit of footage of this abril kid...i think he may have a real fight on his hands. abril demolished acosta. he also has 2 split decision losses against lundy and prescott. he dropped lundy. should be interesting.

Trinidad a relentless pressure fighter? The only example that even relates to Rios is Chacon, but their style of fighting is still different. The pressure is accustomed to the smaller-sized distance and the high-pace. Distance is only an issue for the boxer needing space to punch. Even having a guy pressure you after you've hit him with your best shots is mentally exhausting. A prime pressure fighter will always give a good boxer fits. Always.

You know why he walk away, He was not getting 1.1 million in the first place, all the sharks were getting their cut and was not 10% on top of that there's a rumor that if he got that fight it was clause that will make him 5 more years with Arum, a guy that always have him on the background, he promoted Juama more even in a losing fight, Gamboa can go side to side, back wards, forward and has pop in both hands, one punch KO kind of power, is way faster than Rios and a much better boxer, and unlike Rios, a gold glover winer if he was playing baseball, he doesn't get hit that much...
