Rios has the much better resume so he is actually tested. I do agree he lost to Abril though. I am a big Rios fan but he got schooled. In the meantime here is the notables on Rios resume.

Alvarado - undefeated hard hitting 140 puncher.
Abril - tough match up for anyone at 135 or above.
Murray - tough fighter out of England. No world beater but very solid.
Antillon - LW champ and had just gone toe to toe with Soto. He is tough as nails and Rios stopped him in 3.
Miguel Acosta - Best win of Rios career. Acosta was destrying the top LWs when they met and Rios beat him in a very good fight. Oh yea Acosta has some very heavy hands as well.
Anthony Peterson - HBO was fully behind this guy as a next great star and Rios transforms from the opponent to the star that night.

Rios has just proven himself at the highest level and it is idiotic to think Broner "schools" him based on beating nobodies and losing to PDL.

Thats exactly the point I am trying to make here, Broner hasnt fought anybody close to those guys, and suddenly because he wants to be like Floyd that means he is actually going to replace him?

Maybe he will in terms of being an annoying ***** but at the end of the day he is untested, just because a mother ****er is team slick black doesnt mean ****.... especially when he hasnt faced any Jr welters who can fight yet...

You can't imagine how? This is boxing!Anything can happen **** haven't ppl learned by now smh.Media hypes getting upset/exposed each every year that's not going to ever stop.Fighters are human & they lose eventually at least 99% of them.If you're hittbale you're beatbale, last time I checked every fighter is hittable undefeated doesnt mean **** just means you haven't anybody so laugh when ppl bring up abril.(I think rios lost as well but that won't determine this fight, if broner is willing to stand toe to toe like he did with rees he's in trouble. He'll go from fighting a 5'3 135lb midget to a 5'9 140lb+ bulldozer.Ppl are hyping broner way too much even more than floyd,it's going to blow up in their face eventually & be in for the harsh reality(he's human lol).

Why are you so obsessed with someones nationality & race like you ain't constantly dickriding nigas?......... 2Face nigas that's that **** I don't like. The guy said he wasn't even Mexican but Rican what a dumb ass at least get it right & stop stereo typing ppl .

I tell you People on here always using race card :-(,If rios beats broner it won't be cause of his color or nationality but iron chin, power & bigger cajones.

Would love to see the fight but I'm not gonna get to excited about it...Knowing Arum, his bitchass will find a way to block it and come up with the dumbest reasons as to why he did it.

People overrate the hell out of the PDL fight. There's a difference between getting completely schooled but somehow getting the decision (Rios vs. Abril) and winning a close fight. Broner was in the fight the whole way with PDL, Rios lost 10-2 vs. Abril.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way. Rios is a solid fighter, I think he's very underrated defensively. He has a Ray Robinson type defense(albeit, a little less refined). It's tough to notice unless you watch for it, but he starts off the fight without much of a defensive identity. Slowly, he picks up punching patterns and picks off punches with his gloves. Once he establishes himself inside, he uses body positioning to take away particular punches and take steam off other punches. He also tucks his chin and rolls punches pretty well. The problem with this is he's very vulnerable to a left hook-straight right combination and an uppercut. From what I've seen of Broner, those are two of his favorite moves.

Broner's defense relies more on distance and head movement. He also picks off shots with his glove and his shoulder, as well as using body positioning on the inside(a la Rios). Broner is kind of awkward with his defense. He has a really wide stance but doesn't square up at all. It seems like it helps him control distance, but it leaves his body open; although, he covers it up well on the inside. Also, he has oddly good timing considering how fast he is.

I think the fight could go one of two ways(or a combinations of the two). One, Rios stalks and Broner fights him at mid-range; this favors Broner because his timing and athleticism. Rios is a good body puncher, so he could conceivably take advantage of Broner's wide stance, especially with the left hook. That being said, body shots leave you open for head shots at that range. The second way would be an inside fight. Broner and Rios both like to fight on the inside and both are pretty good at it. From what I can tell now, the fight would be pretty even on the inside. Both fighters make good defensive habits on the inside, and both throw great inside combinations. The only thing to really pull between them is, although Rios is bigger, Broner's stance gives him leverage on the inside as he can use his hip to push Rios where he needs to.

In all likelihood, we'll see back-and-forth between a mid-range bout and an inside bout. The odds seem to be squarely in Broner's favor no matter which way I look at it. Granted both guys' chins hold up, Rios' only shot is to get on the inside. Once he's there and Broner sets himself, he would need to step back and catch Broner leaning. I do think that might be asking Rios to be somebody he's not, though. Based on what I've seen of them, and barring something totally strange, Broner should win this fight tough but comfortably.

One thing I would like to point out in this potential match up.

In the Alvarado fight Alvarado was using a philly shell which took away Rios left hook at first but then Rios figured out all he had to do was move to his left and throw that left hook. It was a quick left hook as he jumped to his left. That little short hook stunned Alvarado several times. It is the same hook Rees was landing over and over on Broner. Now Rees couldnt put much of a dent in Broner but I bet you Rios would. It was the same offensive move and same defensive move. Rios will land on Broner and if he can jolt a rock chinned Alvarado then I think he can stun Broner with it.

Rios ain't no mother****in joke. He comes to get in that ass and don't mind head shots. Alvarado hit his ass with a four punch combo and each blow had bad intentions. Rio's head was jumping like a jack in the box but he ate that **** up like fruit loops and kept on comming, and Alvarado got pop. Plus Rio's skills is a lot better than he gets credit for.Having said that, let me say this, Broner ain't no ****ing joke either. We havn't seen the best of Broner, only flashes of what his young ass can bring to the table whenever he gets ready. His speed and accuracy is always on display but the man is a class A body snatcher and truely has the heart of a champion. He has a solid chin and he will not fold but the most dangerous thing about him is his brain. He knows how to think and adjust and that will be the undoing of my boy Rios.:bbb
