Been watching boxing 32 years and the two most silver spoon careers ive ever seen is de la hoya ( starting in the amatuers ) and canelo alvarez. If you really wanna get into it we can start by de la hoya not even earning his spot on the olympic team. At 140, de la hoya would have ducked rios. As a matter of fact he prob woulda made rios come up to 154.
i dont know what youre smoking, brother, but you have got to be having a blinkered flag-waving session... oscar fought a 'whos who' throughout his career and you want to give rios props over him before he can even hold a candle to that type of resume oscar - tszyu was in negotiations before tszyu got beaten by vince phillips, that i do know winky was a fighter that many genuinely avoided
Why would he have ducked Rios? PS Wright turned down a fight with Delahoya that would have made him 4 times his career high payday.
Oscar in his prime wins by decision. It would have been a great fight to watch. Both fighters would have their moments but Oscar would eek out the decison. Rios would have a puncher's chance though.
Winky rejected $6m (a career-high) payday to fight Oscar, so can we please stop this myth that he ducked him? Anyway, Oscar would have crucified Rios. He looked superb at 140 - Rios would've been little more than a punch bag.
Well, Winky made $4m against Tito and was offered $6m to fight Oscar but, yeah, he was the reason that fight never happened. The only thing more laughable than the idea of Rios beating Oscar is the idea he'd have ducked him.
Well, you can't pick Oscar, who lost all his big fights. And Rios would be a BIG fight. Oscar's chin was never tested the way Rios would test it. We still don't know how he takes a punch like that. Plus, who did Oscar ever beat that was a skilled fighter IN HIS PRIME? Oh, yeah. The ones he lost to! He ain't fight no young, skilled fighter in their best weight class neither. Elma know what's up. ODLH was a Canelo "El Ginger *****" Fraud that Canelo's career is based on.
It's funny how Whitaker, Quartey, Vargas, Ruelas, Hernandez etc aren't regarded as "big fights" - I bet they would be if he'd lost. Most people think he beat Tito and Shane in the rematch too. He fought bigger and better fighters than Rios, who would be massacred in this fight.
