Fight is scheduled for February 23rd in Tijuana. How do you guys see it going, does the old man have a chance?

    Rios KO
Soto must really love boxing or in need of cash.
Rios seems washed but his last fight proves he's still game at contender level. Soto will not be able to trade bombs
It will be a war though. Could go 10 I wouldn't be shocked

I thought Soto was the crafty old veteran getting by on ring savy way back when he lost to Mathysee. Obviously pulling for the upset but should be fun while it lasts.

Yeah I completely forgot Soto has been doing pretty well actually.
Rios should have a decent weight advantage.

Which old man? Lol. Should be a fun one long as it goes. If it was 5 years ago and this fight was made, IMO woulda had FOTY written all over it

Rios will be too big for Soto.

I'm gonna go check this out live. Should be a good one even though Soto will be the fan favorite over Rios. Both guys are Mexican but only one of them is from Mexico and if you have been to any fights in Mexico they don't really go for the Mex-American fighters like that.

Soto has a better chance than he is being given. Rios is really shot, he doesn't have the reflexes or take a punch as well as he used to (look at how he reacted to the Garcia KO). I don't think he can even apply the pressure that made him any good because he was never a good boxer.

Soto, OTOH, arguably beat Orozco and has beat Molina Jr and Abreu since he lost to Matthysse. Soto is the better technician and I think he has a real shot at pulling off the upset. However, Soto is 38 and has been through a lot of tough fights. I still think he is less shot than Rios but I could be wrong. So I think it is a pick-em fight IMO.

True but I was surprised to see Soto as a 5.5:1 dog. Rios shouldn't be that big of a favorite over anyone sniffing the top 25 at Welterweight, let alone a guy like Soto.

Wow this fight should have happened back in 2011, ideally with Rios fighting Soto on the Cotto-Margarito 2 undercard, instead of beating up John Murray.

I still remember Soto's breakthrough performance: a credible losing effort to Kevin Kelley. A few years later he really made a splash by stealing Rocky Juarez's 0. Crazy to think him and Brandon are still fighting.

I think you have to consider Soto an overachiever in terms of his total career, while Brandon's career, despite some high points, was ultimately a bit of a letdown.

Looking forward to this one in the sense that their styles are going to match up wonderfully, however past it's expiration date this one might be.

Also going to have a bet on Soto. No way he should be a huge underdog against someone as effectively damaged as Rios.

Yeah, that is interesting. Especially if you consider Soto is much more technical, and has taken less damage than Rios. But Soto may very well be too old with his prime being 10 years ago.

I will reserve judgment until I see what legendary poster Aztecas has to say.
