Brandon Rios vs Maidana

Maidana on points, both guys hit the canvas though. Maidana will outhustle and outwork Rios, IMO. He won't have the size advantage at 140 he does over the 135lbers.

 

People can talk about Pac man vs Floyd or either of them vs Sexy Martinez, but Maidana vs Rios or Matthysee is the fight i want to see. Would be a war and it doesn't matter who wins because us the fans would be the real winner.

I'd actually favour Maidanas awkward attack and the fact he'd be closer to Rios in size to offset Rios' usual advantages and win a close war where both men are hurt.

I wouldn't be surprised if either man goes, but if anyone would get stopped here I reckon it would be Maidana. He can be buzzed and dropped, his heart will only keep him getting up for so long. Rios could be the guy to do it I guess, but I'll still go with Maidana. No one else is.

I don't think Rios will be anywhere near as effective when fighting people his own size/bigger. Not at all.

 

think it would be an amazing fight to watch a real 50-50.

I reckon Maidana became obsessed with his power but the morales/khan fights will give him a wake up call that he needs more than a big punch. didnt see the last fight so cant say whether it looks like he learnt anything but if he has it could well be his fight.

Also we dont know how effective Rios will be without his size advantage

rios fights much better on then inside then maidana, when rios gets inside on maidana, rios is going to take out his ribcage, this fight will be fought in the Phonebooth and it suits rios more then maidana, maidana best punch is his looping right hand, and he needs distance to use it

An excellent boxer will have the beating of Brandon Rios, not a Marcos Maidana. He's going to be standing right in front of someone who does everything better than he does. Punching technique, composite punching, variety, speed, etc. Everything is in Rios' favour. It's just a question of whether or not Maidana lasts the full 12. Erik Morales was able to hurt him so I have my doubts.
