I initially thought Alvarado would win simply because he'd be the first guy anywhere near Rios' size in the ring, but he doesn't exactly have the most impressive resume in the world. He really received an inordinate amount of credit for winning a close fight against a Mauricio Herrera who should have been 0-2 going into that fight and had just gotten one of the worst robbery wins of the year vs. Dallas Jr.

I agree. I'm one of the few that believes Rios is the physcally stronger of the two - especially as he'll now be at a more comfortable weight. Alvarado, as much as I'm a fan of his, is simply just a lesser version of Rios. They're both carbon-copies of each other, but Rios seems younger, fresher and more refined. In this war of attrition, I can't help but think his body will be the one that survives the battle better.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I like Alvarado, but he's not really the most elite fighter of his kind. But who knows, this is boxing, and we shouldn't be that shocked to see him rise to the occasion and show himself to be better than his record suggests.

Can't really find any recent footage or interviews, but this was uploaded a couple of days ago....

    In a nutshell, Alvarado says:

    • Rios was already a big 135 pounder to begin with, so 140 shouldn't be too difficult for him.
    • He's the best fighter Rios will have ever faced.
    • He understands why Rios is favoured, considering his accomplishments at 135.
    • He could have done better in getting earlier recognition in his career (kinda' blames himself).
    • All gameplans are gonna' go out the window, and they'll war.
    • They both have something to prove and feel this fight will catapult them to the next level.
