Yeah, this guy knows what he's talking about. Alvarado should never be licensed again.

This bout shows how much above the crowd, Pac is.

    (He shut this guy out.)

    Mayweather too, of course.

    Uh..

Above what, the unsanctionably shot crowd? :blood

Let's rein up short of acting like Rios just beat a 2011/12 version of Alvarado by dominant RTD3.

We both know full well that isn't what just happened.

Usually the top tier of boxing talent is that way.

Look at Roy Jones. Who touched the guy when he was topping P4P lists?

There's usually a few truly elite fighters out there that transcend others. There are athletes like that in every sport though.

If the rumours are true then I can't think of a worse combination for brain health than a low defense orientated boxing career and crystal meth abuse. Both f#ck with your speech in different ways. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike is involved a violent incident in the near future, even against himself or another. When you factor in the emotional dys-regulation of head trauma with the impulsiveness and psychosis often associated with amphetamine use... something real ugly could happen.

I felt like he was about to hit the girl inteviewing him

He needs to get some help. No reason a guy with his kind of money needs to be mixed up in that kind of lowlife sh*t.

The version of Pac who skunked Rios was also far from prime (and in order to not to offend your Floyd sensibilities, the version of Floyd who outpointed Maidana was also past his best before date).

My point is that there is a huge difference between the regular 'stars' of the sport and the superstars.

Even more evident at MW, SMW and HW.

Just in case you took my post as being a dig at anybody.:D

I believe I acknowledged 'TBE' in the initial post as well.

At any rate, my point was, and is, that there's a HUGE gap between the very top and the next level down.

I would agree, with some reservations. How many fit on that "very top" dais?

I'd say before the real plunge you have the likes of Thurman and Brook (who are both clearly not up there with Mayweather and Pacquiao, as things stand) - and then (for varying reasons) difficult-to-place wildcards like Marquez, Khan, Maidana, Guerrero, Bradley and Chaves - and then a severe drop-out between the above ten names and the rest of the welters. Including Rios & shot Alvarado.

    Not really imo.

I mean Pac is, for the most part. But this fight doesn't really do much for showing that.

but meh maybe im nitpicking, your point is valid, in that the top tier of boxing is well above the 3rd and 4th tiers.

Oh, you mean how I'm neutral, above the fray, and just happen not to join in the Manny worshiping love-in and Floyd hate propter se, which to feeble minds puts this square peg through a round hole using "with us or against us" logic? Okay. Thanks for clearing that up.
