Gamboa beats Rios any day of the week, he's class, want to see him against Selby, winner keeps the Dre's

    :deal

He always tends to coast in his fights and often gets caught with silly shots. He will not be able to handle Rios' power, that much i'm certain

I've never been a fan of Gamboa and think someone who is technically spot on and who doesn't get dwarfed in the hand speed department with him will beat him. The fight's lost all of it's hype now but I'd still like him vs Juanma to happen, I don't necessarily think it's a 100% Gamboa win. In fact, if it were to be made, I'd definitely be putting some money down on the generous odds youd get for a Lopez win.

However, saying that given how ordinary Rios has looked in his last 2 fights at 135, I'd see him beating Rios at the weight if they fought now. Rios hasnt even been doing the basics of good pressure fighting well and if Gamboa is ever going to look special, it's vs. a defensively inept plodder like Rios has appeared in his last 2 fights.

Gamboa for me, is one of the most impressive fighters I've seen in years. Okay, his defence ain't all that and he tends to coast (not something I'm a huge fan of) but going forward he's everything you'd want.

With so many guys lauded for their flashy and substance-free offensive skills with the dawn of the Internet era, for me personally, I think Gamboa has it all. Certainly better than a Guzman.

Gamboa would absolutely tattoo Rios all night, I dont know if he'd knock him out or not but it would be a hideously one-sided beatdown a la Mayweather-Gatti.

Shame it wont ever happen & Gamboa will be out of the ring for a while

Yep, sadly it looks like Gamboa will go the Guzman route. Only it'll be a genuine disappointment.

A very well structured thread Vano , nice work mate :good

A lot , and i mean an awful lot depends on how he performs at the weight , will that extra 5 lbs be enough to transform him from drained fighter to relentless pressure fighter , my inkling is that even 140 will be too much of a drain on him physically

Which doesn't bode well for a man who relies heavily on outworking and out muscling his opponents

Stylistically there are some good matches for him up @140 but there are some bad ones too , there is a lot of talent in the division , it will be interesting to see if he can adapt to the weight , my hunch is that he won't , and he'll be battered or KO'd sooner rather than later , thats of course if he fights relevant guys at the weight , there talking about Marquez , i think Marquez would box his ears off without breaking a sweat , interesting to see how this unfolds

In summary , 1 or maybe 2 cans @140 then a big fight , in which he suffers a big loss , moves to 47 , where he fades quickly into non relevance

    thanks mate :good

I agree with your assessment. How much will the extra 5lb help? I'm not sure it'll be a great deal. He slloked sluggish as hell at 137. But we'll definitely have some entertainment with Rios at 140, bet your life on it
