Hehe I had a casual friend that had tickets for the fight but since Pulev was replaced by Takam he told me this: "Man there is no point of going to see Takam or whatever his name is, getting ****ed up for 3 minutes" , I told him that this fight will go in the late rounds. The stoppage was horrible... AJ has tons of things to improve if he wants to be THE Champion. I feel like smaller guys like Takam are horrible match up for him. They are way faster and as long as they can take his shots, AJ will be doomed. Just imagine Povetkin who is more durable. Klitschko knew this and he did what he had to : Jab jab and hug. If AJ fights like he did against Takam , Povetkin will use the chances. And I am sure he will because he acts stupid sometimes in the ring. He doesn't try to control the fights with his jab because he knows his power. Same thing goes for Wilder, since his fight with Stiverne I , he doesn't use his jab at all, because he relys on his power.

We have a notice board at work where people sell things, especially tickets. One clown of a man made a post selling his ringside tickets because Takam was standing in. Said in the advert that he was no longer interested. I will be sure to send him an abusive email on Monday. What kind of ******** makes out he paid all that money to see ****ing Pulev.

    Spot on with every point.

After yesterday's fight I think Povetkin and Parker's stocks have risen slightly. Takam proved once again that he can hang in there with the best.

Joshua is still the best of course but the gap between him and the rest isn't as large as I or many others thought.

Oh dear, I have very similar experiences here too, every casual in the UK wrote off the possibility of Takam putting up any sort of resistance.

My opinion is still unchanged, that Pulev would've got sparked out early.

    People pay to see knockouts.

That's why heavyweight boxing has always been the money division of the sport.

Watching a one sided beatdown with a legit KO is more exciting that watching a one sided down over 10 rounds.

I agree with all your points, but the one that talks about the size. Joshua is so big that if you dont have his same size, it's next to impossible to win to him. He's extremely too big. It's the same that happened to Vlad, those guys are so huge that you cant be competitive vs them if you are not a freak you yourself too. Appart from this point, you are right 100% in all the other points, imho.

EDIT: just a question about english speaking if you dont mind. "It's the same as happened to Vlad" or "It's the same that happened to Vlad" or ""It's the same as it happened to Vlad"? I realized I dont know exactly how to say it.

Yeah that's how I define the term as well. You can be competitive but still lose almost every round. Like Chisora/Vitali. Chisora was competitive in every round, Vitali was never in total control but he did win almost every round vs Chisora. The scorecards don't always reflect how competitive a fight really is.

    Thanks.

I hear you but IMHO although size is important i do think Joshua could in theory be beaten by a smaller (but not too small) guy, let's say 6'3 for example, with the right power and skills. Maybe you are right that 5'10 Tyson is too small, I really don't know, but you know, i don't think it's necessary to be 6'6+ if you have exceptional power or skills or both. Perhaps if Takam had Tyson's power he could have hurt Joshua. He did hit Joshua clean a few times.

So Hearn booked Takam as a reserve without telling Joshua?

If Joshuas camp was so uncertain of Pulev, that they paid a stand in a 8 week camp, surely a professional team would've prepared for both opponents.

I thought it was good performance by both men, Takam clearly came to win. Decent scrap. Fanboys have their unrealistic expectations of Joshua being the next Lennox Lewis or something, so when his limitations surface they get in a crisis. I've always seen Joshua for what he is, a talented but flawed HW. If he fights Povetkin in the next 12 months it's a 50/50 fight.

This isn't the 1st time, he seems to be a serial offender.

Tbh I think there is definitely malice, but he will probably say the crowd cheers too loud when he's fighting so he can't hear the bell.

Takam has been the 1st bloke to actually be aware of the bodybuilders coward punch and actually defended himself.

Whyte went nuts when he did it to him and I remember AJ shook up Breazeale badly after the bell one round. I think he might have done it to Wlad too, but it wasn't as memorable as the other 2.

I must've watched a different fight than everyone cause I saw AJ won pretty much every round against Takam while Parker lost at least 4 rounds and looked 10x more gassed during the fight than AJ ever did. Joshua whoops Parker easy.

    I call it GGG syndrome..

There is an expectation of a certain performance and if the fight does not go the way of the expectation then the fighter has failed...
