BRISBANE, Australia -- "A 23-year-old boxer died Monday two days after losing consciousness after losing a 10-round featherweight bout.

Family spokesman James O'Shea confirmed that Braydon Smith, who was in the final year of a law degree, had been in an induced coma at a Brisbane hospital since collapsing 90 minutes after a WBC Asian Boxing Council continental title bout with John Moralde of the Philippines on Saturday.

Smith lost in a unanimous points decision, before praising his opponent and congratulating Moralde on the win and then returning to his dressing room.

O'Shea said Smith was alert and talkative immediately after the bout before collapsing." - Reported and written by ESPN

It was his first loss. His final record will stand at 12 wins (10 KOs) and 1 loss. A reminder of the risks these guys take when they step in the ring.
Say a prayer for his family and friends or just take a moment to keep them in your thoughts. RIP Braydon Smith. :-(

Sad news indeed. Also a day and a half late. Maybe a mod can merge
    this with the existing thread?

    Tragic.

Thoughts are with his family. It's why it infuriates me when people throw the term coward around on here. They don't know the meaning of the word.
