If he calls him poor people will *****... if he calls him rich people will still *****... you have a low self esteem problem if that gets you mad..... this is a contact sport, if you are "hurt" by someone calling you rich, spoiled, brat, etc. maybe you should pick up golf or something

I agree - this is a fight - the objective is to win - its not against the rules what AS did besides the warning he got for running around the octagon...yes people may not prefer it but he won...end of story - personally this is why i enjoy watching fedor - there is never anything personal in the fight its just his job - but you cant sit there and complain when an athlete uses dirty tactics to win - its MMA not not boxing, golf or cricket.

I think the Brazilians are angry by the name calling the American are angry because AS is a dickhead who fights not to lose instead of fighting to win, like Tyson, W. Silva, Fedor and the like. Those guys lay it on the line and are/were great champions. A. Silva will never be held in the same regard because he hasn't the mentality of a fearless fighter.

It's going be pretty difficult to explain to someone living in a modern Western society the history of Brazil and the nature of its society.

There are intermingling of races and many social gradations based on these(no 'one-drop' rule here), with descendants of pure Europeans settlers on top and those of black slaves at the bottom.

Presumably you could mark someone's status in society by their speech and visually by the lightness of their skin.

I think Anderson was introducing an element of class and ethnic aggression on a public stage.
This is what middle/upper class Brazilians may have found distasteful and unnerving

have any of these middle/upper class Brazilians ever looked down at the lower class Brazilians? But I think I understand... Damian calling Andersan a poor ******* is the same as Anderson calling Damian a rich *******
