Be prepared to get your ass kicked on a daily basis by guys smaller than you. Tapping is no big deal it's just training, your biggest obstacle in your progression will be letting go of your ego. Drill, Drill, Drill every tecnique you learn, make friends in class and drill the techniques you've learned as much as possible, no matter how monotonous it gets. And again, don't let your ego get in the way of learning. Every black belt was just another whitebelt who didn't quit.
I would say its my mad BJJ skills that have lead me to tap him on a regular basis. But alass its my ability to google his name with BJJ after it. In perspective, my thing is triangle chokes, spider guard ones I had a purple practice his triangle escapes (with success) on me a week ago, confidence = dented.
A few months back I had a guy with 15+ years experience tell me my triangle escapes were fantastic. Confidence = sky high.
I envy those who are starting nowadays as opposed to when I started. Tons of quality schools around, great techniques all over the web and instructors who speak good english. Prices have gone down a bit too.
