Breaking down Joe Louis: Part 6 - Putting It All Together

I kind of touch upon it in the last part (I think) but when Joe landed that punch on Schmeling that drew the "woman-like" scream, one newspaper claims that a number of ringsiders "instictively reached for their hats" as if to leave. Not sure about this. It's a beautiful, beautiful story but what kind of newspaper man is watching the crowd at a moment like that? I hope it's true because it really summarises the sheer brutality of that take-down better than anything i've read.
