Yeah if this is the article I don't see the big deal. There's nothing about the fight not happening, in fact quite the contrary, all the article says is Arum won't be negotiating. Why he would pull out of the negotiations and put someone else in charge no clue but it doesn't affect anything.

It wasn't because Floyd's camp didn't want Dallas, Arum's beef is with the way they dismissed Dallas. They had plane tickets reserved for Dallas and Jerry Jones had a business presentation ready to go, and Schaeffer calls Arum on the eve of the meeting and just plainly states they don't want an outdoor arena because there isn't enough time to promote a fight in an outdoor arena.

They came up with this decision hours before the meeting? Meanwhile they made Jones' outfit prepare a serious business plan to entice the promotion over, and then all of a sudden they had this epiphany hours before the trip?

This is all in bad faith, and that's probably why Arum is taking himself out of the talks.

The nerve of these keyboard warriors calling either one of these men pussies/chumps/cowards at the slightest sign of a hang up. Just clearly shows who's sack you swing from by jumping to the conclusions. This is just all part of the business side of making the fight and making share neither side gets shafted. :deal

Arum said “we are finalizing the contract and then we’ll determine the site. There are two places in the running. At least we’ve eliminated all the nonsense. Its between the MGM Grand or Dallas.”

Why doesn't he just pull out of the sport altogether? How does a guy that admitted to bribing wbc officials get to participate afterward? Should the NBA re-hire the ref that fixed those games?

exactly, he's just excusing himself from the negotiation.

"Arum is turning over the negotiations to Todd duBoef, who is the president of Arum's Promotional company Top Rank, as well as Arum's stepson. So Arum's company is still handling their side of the negotiations, but will do so without Arum leading the charge.

Plans are for Mayweather Jr and Pacquiao to face one another on March 13th of 2010. The only thing that stands in the way of making the fight official is a final choice of venue for the event. At this time is looks like the MGM Grand in las

Arum doesn't like DLH and Mayweather because they were formerly promoted by him and he did an amazing job making them popular, just look how HUGE Oscar is and how huge Mayweather's name is now. Same for Pac and many others in the past. Arum just knows at this stage that the money will be TOO much to turn down and even though he clearly can't get over Mayweather and DLH he's letting someone else do the talking for him, it will sure as hell be Arum's words but through another person.

Not just is the money big here, the public, boxing AND non boxing fans demand it and badly want to see it and with both fighters interested there's no reason to ruin it. Far too much money to be made for anyone sane to turn down. Arum doesn't want the fight not because he's scared Manny will lose, he just doesn't want to risk his big guys and right now Pac is by far the biggest name he has. I assure you if he had any big names to let Pac fight he will do so, like he did with Cotto but there's no one. Especially with a good chance a rematch might be possible depending on the outcome the money keeps getting better.

If not this fight then what will Pac go for?, a tune-up is reasonable in my opinion after all the big fights but is there any better name after the tune-up?, Mosley is a good enough name but he also falls in the "DLH/Mayweather" category and Arum can make FAR more fighting Mayweather in a risky fight than Mosley. For Mayweather there's Berto/Mosley winner then who?, Mathew Hatton?, I don't think ANY sane fan would even bother and watch the press conference of that one let alone the fight. Hell I will be the first to bash on it if it gets signed, I'm pissed off that they even considered M.Hatton, that was an obvious sign of "Let's make quick money and leave again" which I sure as hell won't support.

About it being off, I don't think it is, the article doesn't state ANYTHING about it being off. Arum just doesn't want to be the phone speaking with these guys, nothing else. Only thing left now is location, everything else is settled and agreed on.
