There are conflicting reports about a catchweight. Before I jump to conclusions, I want to know what the contract says. However, it there a really is a catchweight clause against Clottey, I will root for Clottey to beat Pac, and I've always rooted for Pac.

I hear you bro. But if there was a catchweight I still would not root against, Pac. I don't want him to lose so the Mayweather fight will be bigger and not ruined.

No. The welterweight LIMIT is 147.

Anywhere from 141-147 is a welterweight fight.

A fight does NOT have to be fought at the absolute LIMIT of the weight class.

I agree but i can not enjoy this fight with any catch weight stipulation. Manny has to fight at WW limit or go back to JWW.

Fans want to watch a legit fight not some exhibition match to showcase manny's boxing prowess.

So you are all for one fight feeling 100% great before the fight while the other is not feeling 100% because he is a bit weight drained and used his entire training time to cut weight as opposed to working on fighting his opponents style?

    ***** move.

If Manny doesn't want to come in at the 147 limit then he has no need to, however forcing your opponent to because you know he can't turn down the offer to fight you isn't fair. Again though, i've no idea whether this 144 thing is true.

    I agree.

A Pac fan here, but this is BS. Obviously Clottey is bigger but they chose to fight him over the $40M payday. I understood the Cotto fight at 145 lbs as he wasn't really tested at welters, but asking yet for another catchweight after a great performance against a tough welter. If Pac can't really think he can outdo the bigger welters, might as well just come back down to 140.

I'm surprised that it's within the rules for a defending champion to put his belt on the line in a fight with a catchweight imposed. It's essentially allowing the champion, and not the commission to determine what the weight limit is for the commission's belt. I can't possibly see how that's legal. Last I checked, the welterweight limit is 147, not 144.

If Pac wants to fight people at catchweights, that's fine. But the WBO should withdraw its sanction for it as a championship bout since it's going to be under an artificial weight limit that is not within the WBO rules for championship bouts.

    WW is 141-147.
Any agreed upon weight between that is legal.
