Because you have a naturally bigger fighter fighting a naturally smaller fighter.

The reality is if no WW will fight at 144, Pac will be forced to fight at 140 range. But Cotto and Clottey WANTS the pay day. Clottey especially with 3 defeats. He is still in peak physical condition but his "public stock" is not getting higher so his ability to demand big fights is decreasing, even in reality he can beat Pac, Cotto and Berto in a good day.

Hell, Mosley says he will fight Pac at 140. You know why? Yes - same as Clottey. Even though he can beat ANY welter weight right now, his ability to demand top pay is nearing its end. He is in top physical shape but he can't even get a PPV fight.

These guys have been training and have been physically punished since they where in their teens. They are not even in their 40s and they have to 'retire' soon. So money talks. No one wins in a strict limit - not fans and not the boxers.

And you know what - if Clottey beats the crap out of Pac and Pac wants a rematch - guess what. I bet you Clottey will be saying "147 *****!" And there is nothing Pac and *******s can do about it except ***** and make up polls in ESB.

Take away the title and I have no problem with this. Otherwise Pac could turn this into the 142 pound division.

Clottey is a huge WW. Who normally comes in at around 165 on fight night. He will now be drained and a walking corpse on fight night.

a few teaspoons of blood taken 2 weeks before the fight are more draining than being forced to boil down 3 lbs? Yeah *******s, Mayweather's demands were so horrible but this one is perfectly fine. ****ing hypocrites

I'm a big Pac. fan but in light of what's been going on with the Mayweather crap, I can't believe guys on here are saying it would be ok for Pac. to demand that Clottey drain to 144. If that's really the case I will be rooting against Pac. for the 1st time. Hopefully this is just BS.

    Didn't Roach say it's at 147? So it's Koncz's word vs Roach's?

So he's going to defend the WW title at a catchweight?!? Makes a lot of sense.

    Wow!!!

I guess they want to ensure that Clottey doesn't ruin Pacmans future payday vs PBF. They might as well just pay Clottey off to throw the fight. At least that would be less detrimental to his health. Especially if there is a re hydration clause not allowing him to weigh more then 147 on fight night.
