I actually think Hattons footwork is fantastic. He showed it against Mayweather. He was able to apply relentless pressure on Mayweather throughout the whole fight. The problem with Hatton is that hes a limited fighter. Hopefully Mayweather Sr helps him out in this regard.

hatton was a good boxer before he fought tszyu. he can work his jab and combine it with a cautious footwork that goes in and out. after his success in swarming tszyu for the 140 title, that's when he changed style altogether, he abandoned his boxing skills for pure brute and power. at least mayweather could hopefully bring him back to his roots.

what an odd couple by the way, the hype for the november fight would be ridiculously funny as both fighter and trainer are known for stand-up comedic interviews.

"I can train him blindfolded and with both hands tied behind my back,"--mayweather on hatton.

speaking of mayweather snr., i'm still anxious to hear from him his opinion of the dlh-pac match. it seems like roach is alone on trash talking in this one. the two coaches should make for an interesting verbal match-up.

hatton was a warren robot before he fought tszyu the same calzaghe has been his whole career.

after beating tszyu (i'm australian btw) hatton wanted more and thats why i have more respect for him than any british fighter who whines about who will not fight him in his prime than any other fighter - including david haye.

if you dont go to the US and ruffle some feathers then you're spitting hot air.

ricky hatton is a poster child for british fighters who have the balls to believe in themselves instead of playing a numbers game.

    Great news.

I say the first fight won't show a thing - Hatton will do his usual stuff vs. Paulie and will look bad in the first few rounds until he finds a way to deal with the speed - with pressure. But a year or 7-8 months from now, when Hatton returns for another fight, we'll have the correct answer whether Sr. can work on that defense and offensive arsenal or not.
