I've been critical of Bute's selection of opponents recently but I am a fan of his and a believer in his ability. Is that what you mean? I don't hijack threads with whining like him. :deal
PAvlik fought taylor rematch at 164 and Hops at 169 and he clearly had no snap on his punches. He even admitted ( i think it was after the hopkins fight) that he didnt belong at SM which is why he moved back down...
well.... I feel Bute is experiencing a good bit what Calzaghe went through. Not much feasiblely available except B-level competition in his weightclass (w/ Bute's case, the A-lvl fighters are all in a 3yr tournament). Best idea is to continue to do his mandatories till the tournament ends. Brinkley is a B-lvl fighter and makes it a valid title defense. I would expect in 2011, Bute will do another mandatory B-lvl established fighter and ensure a victory. This will setup a REAL BIG Title Unification of 3 belts at least vs the Super6 champion. Now THIS is the fight everyone's been drooling for. Just be patient for the Super6 to end....
One mandatory title defense a year. Bute has been a champion since 2007. 2008: Andrade 2009: Andrade (rematch) 2010: Brinkley Those are his mandatory defenses so far.
Andrade could fight Brian Vera. He just knocked out Sebastien Demers on ESPN. Pavlik could fight a guy like Kingsley Ikeke or Andrade's brother, Enrique Ornelas.
Pavlik isn't going to take a pay cut to be on a Bute under card. Pavlik has plenty of earning potential left and I'm sure Arum will maximize that. Maybe to YOU it would be considered an honor to be on Bute's under card, but for Kelly it would be a step backwards. ESPN just doesn't have the bankroll for this. Period. You think Bute is going to take less to make the under card stronger? :rofl
He also got schooled in his last fight and needs a tune up. Ornelas will come to fight. What opponent do you suggest?
He was winning the fight until he got cut and couldn't see the punches coming. How in the hell do you consider that 'schooled'? atsch
