Sad, but as others have mentioned, you saw the signs of this coming.

As Chef said before, I've never seen Wlad in this kind of shape for a fight. Where I could see the difference was in the legs, especially the calves. Wlad was ready to go and it all may have been getting a bit too real for the Haye Man.

    Very disappointing.

No CHEF, tell him the people wanna Valuev. This is the big show and an adequate replacement, not Chagaev. that will be Wlad-Ibragimov 2.

I noticed the increased leg development also. It appears that Wlad has been doing more squats or sprints or both. That added mass might push him closer to 250 and increase his punching power significantly.

    Bingo!

It's just like with Pac. The power is from the legs, and if you look at Pac's legs, they're jacked. That's how he hits so damn hard (plus the speed he generates = more force).

Great point on Wlad's legs likely meaning more power, Boxfan1. Thanks!

I've never seen Wlad's legs like that. Maybe he just got done with a workout but they're really vascular and looking huge. I pity whoever steps in for Haye (would love it to be Valuev).

Because even though Wladimir is always in great shape, he has always had thin legs for a man his size. Basically, he has always been really top heavy and that has contributed to balance issues. If you look at Vitali's build, he is leaner all around and has an upper body that matches his lower body equally, thus improved balance. If you look at pictures of Lennox Lewis, he was actually a little upside down, that is his legs were a little more developed than his upper body. Wladimir's additional leg mass can only help add power, speed and balance.

Thank Boxfan1 -- he laid it out clearly.

It's ok -- you'll have a while longer to hold onto The Haye Myth, even if this hurts the hype.
