When Povetkin pops again, the promoter just wants the show to go on. Last year he had to scramble. This year, he's prepared. He's got B.J. Flores on standby. And when Povetkin pops, Hammer will get the WBO mandatory shot next year. And Hearn will tell you that it's important to get these mandatories out of the way before any Wilder fight can happen. But they'll get to that fight "eventually." And, oh, by the way, Joshua-Hammer will be on PPV. So get your wallets out.
Here’s my issue with Wilder getting this fight and the payday that comes with it. All trolling and baiting aside, Wilders resume is disgracefully poor, despite their denials and when not digging in, his fans see this as well but will never admit it. The sense of entitlement displayed by Wilder himself, he hasn’t done anything to deserve his big day but he acts like he’s being denied his just deserts and recognition Wilder getting this shot is confirmation that the business of boxing has taken over the sport of boxing. Wilders handlers have carefully hand picked their way through 39 fights, avoiding anyone offering a real challenge with the sole aim of milking money from the sport in a cashout fight. I want to see this fight if only to remove Wilder from the Heavyweight serene and allow genuine fighters to get on with it.
I'm talking about things that have happened and are actual facts..... You are talking make belief from your perspective as a Wilder fan. And for the record being knocked down numerous times and not being able to cut it as a sparring partner says otherwise regarding the Wilder/Wlad outcome.
Wilder isn’t a big name here in the US that’s for sure but he’s knocking out some corners and making some noise. From a pure relevance stand point he’s #2 behind Joshua so the fight makes sense from a legacy perspective. It may not be the biggest money maker here in the states....but across the pond and UK vs US championship unification bout has a lot of sizzle that will sell out Wimbley if promoted properly
Povetkin popped before fighting freaking Stiverne. And I know how highly you all regard him as an opponent. The promoter knows what's about to happen. He's just trying to save his show.
Povetkin and Ortiz have better records. I go by that and not some fraud shouting "bum squad" after knocking over a tub of cherry picked ice cream.
Not necessarily. There’s step aside money that can be leveraged to allow more meaningful fights to take place so Joshua wouldn’t lose his titles. That’s the business aspect within the sport that is commonly used in these kinds of situations
Wilder had a chance to fight Wald but he didn’t take that fight at that stage of his career. I honestly don’t think Deontay was ready. Now....I might favor Wilder over Wald but back then, I didn’t give Deontay a chance.
