Age would be be and rust would be a factor iof he was facing an elite boxer like PBF that was going to really test his boxing game. But a slow guy come forward guy with no defense like Margo would be just what the doctor ordered for a guy like Wright. You say nothing Winky throws will hurt Margo but nothing Margo throws would hurt Wright who has an underrated chin and just took punches from a 170 pound Hopkins and 160 pound Taylor not to mention his superior guard. Margo would be nothing more than a walking target with his horrible defense and Winky would simply cover up and return fire all night long and land the cleaner harder blows and win by wide UD.

Riding your point, if someone like Clottey, who has a poor man's version of Winky's defense, can hang with Margo until he hurt his hand, I can not see how a superior version of Clottey would not be able to hand Margo clear decision loss.

Golden Girl needs to fight Margo. Does it even matter!! when was the last big fight he has won. His punk arse will probably pick on tito or Winky. he needs to go back to promotor school and learn how to put on quality fightcards.

If this is not true I'll never use the f-news website ever again.

Exactly! Clottey who uses a high guard was blocking everything Margo was throwing and landing almost at will a more talented boxer like Winky would have even more success.

Thank God for that!! More news on the break down in talks between GPB & Arum..

    Source Los Angeles Times:

"They were adamant at 70-30 and weren't going to move," Arum said. "Manny turned down the fight and asked me to get him another fight for the fall."

Richard Schaefer, chief executive of De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, said Tuesday that De La Hoya had agreed to fight Pacquiao at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds and with 8-ounce gloves, terms that Pacquiao had sought, but that De La Hoya would not alter the split of the purse.

Arum relayed the terms to Pacquiao, who turned down the offer.

"The decision was all Pacquiao," Arum said. "He feels, under the circumstances, he's entitled to a better split. When he realized there was absolutely no movement on De La Hoya's side, he decided to turn down the fight."

Schaefer said he was surprised with Pacquiao's decision. He hoped the details of the negotiations were clearly explained by Pacquiao's advisors in the Philippines because Pacquiao was set to earn the biggest payday of his career, regardless of the split.

"I don't think anybody, at least anybody I know, spends in percentages," Schaefer said. "If you buy something, you don't ask how much percentage does it cost. You spend in dollars and cents. He could have made, at least, $9 million to $10 million, or about three or four times as much fighting someone else. I guess he's going to have to do three or four fights to make the same amount of money."

Schaefer said De La Hoya would be in Southern California on Monday to participate in a charity golf tournament and they would discuss future opponents during his 10-day stay.

De La Hoya, 35, is boxing's biggest draw and has said he will retire after his next fight.

Pacquiao had moved up to the 135-pound lightweight division in June, taking the WBC title from David Diaz with a ninth-round knockout at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Following the victory, many expected Pacquiao's next challenger to be popular Englishman Ricky Hatton in the 140-pound division, or 130 pounders Edwin Valero or Humberto Soto.

De La Hoya weighed 150 in his last fight against Steve Forbes, the lightest he has been since taking on Arturo Gatti at 147 pounds in March 2001.

Pacquiao, 29, began his professional career as a 106-pound strawweight. He has been fighting at 130 since 2005. In his last fight, he moved up to the 135-pound lightweight division for the first time, taking the WBC title from David Diaz with a ninth-round knockout at Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Montero, that is one heck of a great idea. It would be great for the sport and great for both fighters. If it was Oscar's last fight, he'd get props for taking on the guy who looks like the most dangerous fighter at 147. Margo would get props for taking on a legend, and get a huge payday, as well.

Unfortunatley, it probably makes too much sense for the powers that be in Boxing to make it happen.

Richard Schaefer needs to learn his lesson off of this. That certain fighters, WILL NOT succumb to GBP's ridiculous stipulations. Sorry Dicky, but just because you happen to think so highly of Oscar doesnt mean the rest of the Earth does. When it comes to negotiations, you have no leverage when it comes to Trinidad, Floyd Jr. or Manny Pac. You and all of GBP including the Chairman of the Board will be told to go jump in the cesspool. :good

Dlh backed himself into a corner by agreeing to this fight in the first place and needed to find a way out because of all the **** he was receiving from most boxing fans. This was probably his way out of an ugly situation!

Thank god this circus is out of town!:happy

Someone claimed DLH would fight Pavlik IF the Hopkins fight fell through. They said it was in the Plain Dealer. I went to that site and could not find a reference. BUT, just in case, can so one put a cap in Bhop's ass? I think we would see DLH turn whiter than any ghost.
