There should be an interm title fight to replace it with Faber fighting someone else. Knowing the UFC, they won't do that and they will end up having Cruz be the champ after not fighting for a year. Which is a joke.
I would much prefer that then Faber winning the title and not defending it until Cruz comes back, then what was the point of the title in the first place other than to officially crown the top challenger when we knew who it was anyway. What if then the Interim champion gets injured and they have to replace him when Cruz comes back? It's just nonsense. Faber/McDonald imo.
It's obvious that Faber is going to get an interim title shot. Zuffa is desperate to hand him another title.
Anything can happen, but it's getting crazy with how long a guy can have a title in between fights. Randy had the Hw for like 124 years before he defened it against Brock. Cain was out for over a year. GSP has not defend his title in 13 months, and it will be about a year and a half till he does. That is too long.
Eh...that **** is outside of the norm. Couture was in a nasty contract dispute with Zuffa, and GSP and Cain had serious injuries. If GSP hadn't blown out his knee, he probably would have defended his title twice his last one.
They have kept GSP from fighting to, with **** like TUF. Tho I shouldn't complain about GSP, since I forgot Condit is the interm champ.
I'm not disputing the introduction of Interim titles, I'm disputing the Interim champions not defending the title at least once. There's been 7 interim champions so far I believe, only Arlovski has defended it once.
I was looking forward to Barao/Menjivar. McDonald-Pickett would've been perfect....but Faber-McDonald makes sense.
