Colombian power-punching super lightweight Breidis Prescott (26-4, 18 KOs) fought off the always-game Bronx-battler Francisco “Gato” Figueroa (20-5-1, 13 KOs) with a unanimous decision win in their Solo Boxeo main event. Prescott dropped Figueroa twice in the first round with heavy left hands.

Proving it’s not the size of the dog (or rather cat) in the fight, Figueroa came on in the third and dropped Prescott with an overhand right in the fifth. Headbutts played a role throughout the bout, opening a nasty gash behind Figueroa’s head at the close of the sixth but he gamely soldiered on.

Outgunned and outsized, but never out of heart, “Gato” pursued the bigger man through the second half of the fight. Ultimately Prescott’s quick start and continued heavy leather proved too much as judges determined scores of 79-71, 77-73 and 78-71 for the man from Barranquilla.

Prescott is a hurdle that Khan has no excuse for not getting over now.
It's a perfect second fight for Khan if he's coming back the sensible way.Nice tune up to get his confidence back then right back in with Breidis.
    We want to know...

There is no way Khan can ever beat Prescott, he's too tall and heavy handed. Khan's style fits him like a glove!

I agree mate. I've been Tweeting and writing articles on how Khan/Prescott II is the perfect fight for Khan right now.

It makes sense in every single way.

    Public interest - yes

    good opponent - yes

    winnable fight - yes

respect from fans if he wins - yes

    something to gain - yes.

Bang on.I'd have no problem if Khan took a tune up first though. Not grudging him as much time as it needs.
Breidis must be a hard, hard fight for him to get his head round though.I'm not believing there won't be a big dollop of doubt swirling round his head about it.

I didn't see it, but reading that it sounds like Prescott was doing his usual "run out of gas" later in the fight?

I wish this was a 12 rounder because Gato was forcing the issue and Breidis was fading. Would have been a fun last 4 rounds. With 8 rounds, Figueroa simply didn't have enough time.

I don't know. It looked to me like Fig gave it his all in the 7 and 8 rounds because he knew it was only an 8 rounder. He would have paced himself better in a 12 round fight, as would Prescott.
