Bremond "Bay-Bay" McClinton - James Kirkland's new trainer

Who the **** is this?

Seriously. Ever trained another pro?

WTF is Kirkland thinking switching from the proven tried-and-true formula with Ann Wolfe to a complete novice? (to boxing - McClinton apparently specializes in training football players...)

 

He apparently works with WNBA players, too, in addition to running combines for Division I college gridiron. :!:


Not a terrible athletic coach's résumé by any means - just completely ****ing barren of any boxing experience. atsch

 

Per the Golden Boy Website:

"I've know James since he was 16 years old. He was in my training camp I had eight guys. And, out of those eight guys James stood out the most to me. He promised me that 'Whenever I have a big fight, you're going to be the guy.' He called me, and he stuck to his word. He's going through hell right now, but I'll tell you, come May 9 he's not going to be a pit bull - he is going to be a beast."

:blood So, did Kirkland break his promise for the first 33 bouts of his career?

...or has McClinton been in his corner before (in a peripheral capacity, supporting Wolfe or whoever else) and just flown under the radar until now? I did a search for his name on the forum prior to making this very thread - and nothing. He literally has never been mentioned once.

 

As of now, he is the only trainer of record currently listed or mentioned for Kirkland in any promotional materials or videos put out by Golden Boy since the fight was announced.

So, by default, in the absence of anyone else he is de facto if not de jure the head coach.

...meaning rather than be a mature grown-up and patch up his relationship with Ann Wolfe (or finding a vaguely suitable replacement from among the entire pool of available boxing trainers), the Mandingo Warrior elected to instead promote his strength & conditioning guy into a role for which he is hopelessly unqualified. :-(

 

Jermain Taylor will be using McClinton in his return bout after prison. :nut
