"I'm going to knock him out," Rogers recently told MMAFanhouse. "He's going to give me his chin, somehow, someway. He's going to get sloppy with that overhand right that he loves to do or he'll try to shoot in for a takedown, and I'll catch him with either a knee or an uppercut ... something. I'm going to drop him. I want the crowd to go (gasp). I want to get that reaction out of people. So I can't wait." Rogers asserts that Emelianenko, who has fought and defeated nearly every top heavyweight of his era, is looked at as an MMA God, and that defeating Emelianenko would put him at the top of the MMA heap. "I'm God then," Rogers said. "I'm the God of MMA. I'll become the God of MMA, right? Isn't that how it goes? I'm the soul snatcher; I'm the grim. I'll take all his wins and put them under my belt, and then everybody can just hush up." Emelianenko, who is known for his humility, doesn't engage in trash talk. On the matter of his "sloppy overhand right", Emelianenko instead chooses to defer to Rogers. "If he says so, then it must be the case," Emelianenko told Sportbox.ru. "He probably knows better. Let him try to take advantage of it, and I will do my thing." "I will do a few sessions in St. Petersburg, Stary Oskol and in high altitude conditions of Caucasus mountains," Emelianenko said. "We will train separately working the stand-up, and working the ground game. Later we will combine the two, and do tons of sparring. Will also be running a lot. We have to work for conditioning and train for quick movement. I repeat, that opponent is very fast. So I need to be even faster. I need to be either the first to the punch, or move in such way that he doesn't have a chance to get his momentum going. One thing Emelianenko isn't concerned about, is the fact that he'll be fighting in a cage for the first time in his career. "For me there is not much difference, Emelianenko said. "Yes, there is a little, but to me it doesn't matter. I do not fear the power of pressure, Therefore, even if I am pressed against the cage, I know what to do."
I am not sure Rogers has much of a chance besides one punch. Anything can happen and Strikeforce would probably be ****ed from a Fedor loss
Yup absolutely pathetic. Rogers has KO'ed all his opponents and is one of MMA's rising heavyweight prospects but this is truly pathetic... Bad Fedor..
"Pathetic" might be too harsh, but this is the worlds best HW, he should be fighting somebody better; it is a very big step backwords after Arlovski. Barnett of course deserves most of the blame, and Overeem deserves some as well for not defending his belt since beating Buentello.
I seem to recall a lot of people saying Arlovski/Rogers was a joke fight as well. And while Fedor is certainly not Arlovski, don't ever, ever discount someone with Roger's power.
Rogers got a punchers chance, no doubt. Fedor is gone come out, do some faints, as soon as Rogers falls for the fake and raises his hands up to block, Fedor is gone go for a shoot, take him down and bust an Armbar.
wtf is going on with fedor ,im losing respect for him papidly he is demeaning himself.. brett rogers and strike force are you kidding me !! rogers is technically dire. **** myself if he lost to that chump,it might wake him up a little, just sign with dana y' fool, lesnars a KO waiting to happen.
Man you guys are over complicating things. The guy has a 3 fight contract with M-1 Global, end of story. Fedor had the contract before the whole UFC talk, so it was either them copromoting or Fedor was tied to M-1 for another 3 fights. Also, Fedor probably owns a nice chunck of M-1 and I know personally that it's really important for him that Russia is represented everytime he fights, so he looks at M-1 as a Russian product and he wants to do his best to make it succeed, it's a little deeper than just fight politics.
