I think Brewster was equally as determined as he was for every fight. It's just that he was totally outclassed and couldn't get a glove on his opponent. When it became apparent that Brewster was going to breakdown before Klitschko ran out of gas, if he was going to run out of gas at all, Brewster's corner wisely threw in the towel.
And with a broke finger, no less. To those like Suge, Brewster would not have gotten beat, as if he were in his best, motivated form. It wasn't really a full Brewster performance. Brewster must have been lacking heart or drive, ro something. I just cannot be that Wlad was the better man, overall. That just canNOT be the case. :-(
I doubt that he has another detached retina. Looked to me like he might have a fractured eye socket... and maybe a broken jaw.
That's enough ascribing statements to me I haven't made. You do however in your statement, reveal why you KLIT_ites have been so sensitive with regaurd to my observation on Brewster's level of determination. I'm not trying to say a completely determined Brew would have won...I'm just saying we didn't see a completely determined Brew. The way WLAD looked, he'd hurt most guys.
he stated when interviewed with larry that his eye was NOT bothering it and u could see the HBO crew trying to convince lamon that he was bothered by it, realy funny to watch, they had all the trouble in the world giving wlad his credit
Look I respect McGirt too, but the fact is that Lamon shouldn't have been in the damn ring if he was injured. A detached retina is a serious business, and they basically hopped right into the fire to take a payday with Wlad rather than take a tune up fight to test the eye and see where things stood. Brewster clearly intended to collect his money and get the hell out of the ring. McGirt helped him do that, but that's not noble. He should have advised Lamon never to take the fight in the first place instead of participating in a sham and then acting like you're some hero for saving your fighter, when you and your fighter both knew you were going there to lose.
Look...Brewster has tons of heart and is respected by most everyone. He has a style though that causes him to block a lot of shots with his head. No matter how tough you are or how good your chin is, that is going to catch up with you. I have a feeling that there is more going on with Brewster than we yet know. I would not be suprised if in a few years down the road he will be doing a Jerry Quarry/Muhammed Ali impression. I don't want that to be the case, but that is my gut feeling. A human can only take so many shots before there is a long term effect. Maybe there are already some signs of it. That would explain McGirt's quickish stoppage. He seems like a good guy, lets hope I am wrong.
That was a buzzkill...hope you are wrong. I hope he never steps in the ring again, he's achieved plenty.
Brewster was cleared "before" the fight, Buddy McGirt would never have allowed Brewster to have fought with injured eye and broken jaw! Absurd!
