Brian knew his level. He knew when he was beat. On those rare times, he would just fold up. Cooper said of Brian that if you didn’t show him who was boss, he would climb all over you if you let him. London was a handful when he fancied it. There were guys London fancied his chances against and those he didn’t. If he fancied his chances, and was not discouraged, London would be quite hard to beat. We don’t know if he would fancy his chances against Frank. If he did fancy his chances with Frank, London could be as much of a nightmare for Frank as Stuart Lithgo was. (And if you don’t know about Bruno vs Stuart Lithgo then you don’t know enough about Frank Bruno!) If Brian felt he could win, he would fight for a win. He might not get the win, but fighting like he’s going for the win would make him a rough night for any good fighter. Brian London gave a lot of good fighters all they could handle. He didn’t beat them, but he gave them a good run. Check his record. Brian beat live fighters. He won tough fights. When he fancied it.
Christ ! No wonder I had a break off this site. There are people posting that Bruno takes out London a fast or faster than Ali did ! London went the distance with Ingemar Johansson, only denied a last round KO by the final bell. He went 11 rounds with Floyd Patterson. Brian fought everybody. I saw every fight of Bruno's career and he was barely ever in a fight. I would tip Frank to win but he would absolutely have to earn it.
As good as he was, Frank was matched to win his whole career apart from the Tyson fights. Everything was on his side.
Apologies buddy, your right they fought twice ! I am at the embryo stage of dementia not to proud to be corrected. keep well.
I’ll admit, when I saw the thread title I thought:- “Is there something I don’t know about Brian London?”. Well it seems there is something, or even at least a few somethings. Thanks to those posters tuning me in and turning me toward further investigation.
Brian London was a plucky British fighter who usually lost at a higher level. Which is same as what Bruno was. But Bruno had a more manufactured career. Bruno was a bit more talented, in terms of strength and power.
Bruno was great at beating the crap out of British boxers. Lantern chin Brian gives it his all, but comes crashing down.
