Boxing has the shortest "bans" in sports. Getting caught with something like that in other sports and you have a 2 year ban or your ass.

Thought he would have been a good shout for Groves.

I assume Brian knew about this ban earlier, otherwise its not really a "ban" is it, a week?

    Me too.

Would have given us a good idea of where George is at, instead he's jumping straight in with Froch.

Upon finding out that he tested positive (to his surprise), Magee informed UK Anti-Doping that he voluntarily suspended himself until they imposed a sentence. UK anti doping accepted Magee's version of events, where he described taking an over the counter sports drink, in which Oxilofrine is actually an unlabelled ingredient.
Magee's suspension of 6 months instead of 2 years comes from the fact he wasn't aware he had consumed an illegal substance, and despite being responsible for what is in his body, some of the blame is shifted away from him due to the ingredient being unlisted.
Magee is now considering legal action against the makers of the product.

That's the jist of the story according to the BBC.
Although Sky did add 'The supplement Magee ingested also included another banned substance in beta-methylphenethylamine.'

Some may acuse me of bias, but I personally believe Magee likely took the illegal substance in the manner he described, unwittingly and partially due to the lack of it's listing.

Really doesn't sound like something Magee would do if he knew about it

...but was beta-methylphenethylamine listed on the drink?
