Belfast boxer Brian Magee will fight Hungarian Karoly Balzsay for the regular version of the World Boxing Association's super-middleweight title before the end of June.

The confirmation of Magee's opponent follows Balzsay's win over Kazakhstan-born Dimitri Sartison at the weekend.

The promoters are in discussions over the details of the fight, which are expected to be finalised this week.

The fight is expected to take place in Denmark or Belfast. Magee, 36, was in Germany on Saturday to watch the victory for the WBA's current regular champion. The WBA rate American Andre Ward as their super champion because he also holds the main WBC belt.

In Magee's most recent contest in February, he successfully defended his WBA interim belt as he stopped Markussen in five rounds in Copenhagen.
Magee's victory improved his record to 36 wins in 41 fights.

    Magoo wins it, by ud.

I've seen Balsay's last fight, and Magoo is just better.

50-50 fight - why is Denmark mentioned as a possible fight place?

I think it's pretty clear that the winner is the best super middleweight in the world. :conf

Well, the best of the second tier. Abraham could go at the winner, he is at their level.

It's a good fight but it shouldn't be for a title.

It's a regular WBA title, it's not like it's for a real title.. :rofl

Another good one to look forward to. :good

It's a competitive matchup between two very good fighters.

Neither is an elite boxer, but they both have decent skills and warrior hearts.

    :lol::lol:

The WBA rate Andre Ward as their champion because WBA (Regular) has nothing to do with the original WBA title (called now "Super").
Not because he also holds the WBC belt.

About the fight, Magee is gonna win.

Is this belt not in effect just another way for the WBA to decide who is mandatory challenger for Ward ? Thats what it looks like to me... just more pathetic politics? There should only be one belt for each weight and one boxing association.

Magee to win, but nowhere nearly as easy as he did against Duddy Markusen or Barboza!
