Spot on BigEars; Brian has been an unlucky boxer at times and its good to see him getting a good payday and having a very realistic chance of bein a European champ to boot! He was a tidy operator in his prime and was only 1 or 2 rounds behind on the judges scorecards before Froch Ko'd him. He was also due to fight Calzaghe but it fell through. I was at the Oakey fight- it was on the Dunne v Martinez bill. I thought Magee had won it although he did seem to tire at the end of each round. Hes 34 now i think and is also coming back from a lay-off but if he boxes clever and doesnt get Ko'd, I think he will win. (Hope he doesnt get screwed by a home town decision though)

I hope that doesn't happen either, but you never know, it wouldn't be the first time a Danish fighter got a hometown decision. But as it is for the EBU title hopefully they found some neutral judges. Larsen is fighting for German team Sauerland now, they do have a lot of power in European boxing though, but rumour also has it that Sauerland hasn't been too happy with Larsen lately and don't want to offer him a new contract, so maybe they don't care if he wins or loses.

Anyways, I think it will be a good fight. Two talented fighters who are both ageing, but I'm sure still come to prove a point and will be motivated to win that title. I will watch it on Danish TV, although the fight takes place in the city I live in, Aarhus, but it's a bit expensive.

    Cheers

By the way, when it comes to predicting the outcome, it isn't easy. I have only seen a bit of Magee's fight against Froch. Larsen hasn't been all that convincing since his comeback, but in his latest fight he finally managed to KO his opponent, and he looked better than in previous fights doing so. Seemed like he had finally manged to get rid of the ring rust that came from 4 years of inactivity But the opponent wasn't all that impressive though, so hard to tell exactly where he is at. I figure the coming fight will continue into the late rounds, probably will be a 12-rounder. I favour Larsen slightly, I have never really seen him in major trouble or outmatched in a fight, so maybe that's why. But Magee will definately be one of his very toughest opponents yet.

I wonder if Buncey will be working on this fight. Have to say Setanta Ireland have the makings of a decent boxing team when you add in Paul Dempsey him and Buncey together would work great and add in a former fighter like Steve Collins in the mix or whoever it could work out well.
