I've heard some good things but I've never seen him......just curious to see what everyone thinks of him?
If we are talking about the same brian Mitchell...he is regarded as as very good...only a single loss blemishes his record a.d is widely regarded as one of if not the best South african's ever...I have only witnessed 2 fights of his both against Tony Lopez (The Tiger)...The first a draw (I scored 115-113 Lopez) and the second a victory that solidified his standing as a champion. Unfortunately he would retire shortly after and???? Very good from what I have seen, but that is to limited to give you a solid appraisal! Peace
THe best road warrior in decades. Fought everyone everywhere and won...Best in his weight class and strong P4P top 3 candidate at that era. Had he been american and not south african he could have been huge...
Does anyone have any of his fights? I'd like to see them, especially the Lopez fights. I have many fights if a trade is brought up. Thanks!
Brilliant fighter. The WBA lacked balls and did not get around to banning South Africa until the mid 80s. Even then it was only when the champion lost... Thus for nearly five years, Mitchell was on the road knowing a defeat would pretty much end his international career. Despite that pressure, he never lost. Arguably the finest ever South African fighter, and not a bad trainer either.
