The fight summed up the 147 division. It's easily the worst I've seen it. Sasaki is a good fighter, with **** you power which keeps him in fights, but his defence is really bad. From a technical standpoint, the body jab he threw preceding the knockout was awful. His last two punches were body jabs. It's likely Norman read this as he baited Sasaki with his own body jab. Sasaki took the bait, jabbed to Norma's body, but made the mistake of coming back to his stance before Norman threw his leaping left hook. In that range, you can't be making stupid mistakes like that.

I underestimated Norman, how is this somehow unfathomable to you? I did not think he was that much better than Sasaki.

That was a horrible KO... Pretty much what I was worried about and the difference in skill was clear for all to see. Hope that he recovers fully and isn't heavily impacted by this fight in the long run

It's hard not to think that Ohashi + his team sold him out for an early payday when he should spent years developing his defense before stepping up to world level. He's got the natural power but the defense, fundamentals, experience all aren't there yet and that's a huge issue when you step up from regional-level opponents

While I agree with the rest, I disagree on the selling out part. Sasakis career is pretty typical for a Japanese. And they didn't even rush him too much, because this was his 22nd fight, and he has been a pro for over 5 years now.
But yea, his team should have seen that he wasn't quite ready.

It's true that Japanese fighters tend to be moved much more quickly compared to their peers in England or the US, thanks for pointing that out. I guess selling out isn't the best term in this situation.

I was more so thinking in comparison to Ohashi's own prospect Andy Hiraoka (who trains out of his own gym, while Sasaki only appears on his cards). He's been handling Hiraoka with kid gloves, he took ages to give him his first step up in Barroso (and he hasn't fought since nor does he currently have a match lined up). Ohashi and Sasaki's team were more than happy to throw Jin into deep waters when he clearly had significant fundamental flaws as a boxer. The guy barely had any amateur fights and is still learning on the job! Fights like these can change the course of a boxer's career and it was gross negligence of Jin's team to accept this fight when he's still only 23 years old.

Agree with both of you. It genuinely felt like I was watching Haney against Ryan Garcia with the way Sasaki was wobbling all over the place. I seen some people reference Japanese boxing culture given the beating and lack of care from his team, but really this was all down to his corner. The most honourable thing would've been to throw the towel in.

Stop looking for ways to make them look bad. They didn’t do anything wrong.

    Good news :

Sasaki's team announced the fighter had undergone a CT scan at hospital and there was no "bleeding" or "injuries or trauma", but the fighter was suffering from memory loss.

But hope this memory loss will not affect his entire career after he have just 23 years old..

Yes of course Brian Norman Jr knocked out a guy and he don't think about him when he was unconscious he just laugh with his father.

And then after his father make some insults in Japan for said that they ******* up Sasaki...

Stop to be a fanboy and see the facts.

I don't think so... somes monsters will fights him for the IBF Belt the next days : Sivenathi Nontshinga, Yuga Ozaki, Jayson Vayson, Sergio Mendoza Cordova or Yudai Shigeoka who is ranked #11 by IBF at 108 lbs. (Yuga Ozaki "Wizard of Oz" clearly by far the most dangerous of the list and probably the most dangerous boxer at 108 lbs with Kyosuke Takami).

Thanongsak is good but I think they are superior to him.

Even a rematch against Masataka Taniguchi I'm not sure at all he will beat him again.

I just hope Thanongsak Simsri will make a unification against Panya Pradabsri.

I think my top 5 for the moment at Light Flyweight (108 lbs) :

    1- Kyosuke Takami

    2- Yuga Ozaki

    3- Carlos Canizales

    4- Sivenathi Nontshinga

5- Daiya Kira / Rikuto Sezutsu (probably both futures big names of the 108 lbs but I think Rikuto will moved up soon in Flyweight).

What is strange actually at 108 lbs it's because it was a weight classes in transition all the stars and big names moved up to Flyweight. This is why we have actually no world champions in the top 5 of the 108 lbs but Kyosuke Takami will fight for the WBA the 30th July against Erick Rosa a very minor champion.

After the top 5 it's for me :

    6- Erick Badillo

7- Jayson Vayson / Yudai Shigeoka (if he moved up at 108 lbs definitely)

8- Shokichi Iwata / Elwin Soto

9- Regie Suganob / Rene Santiago / Thanongsak Simsri / Panya Pradabsri

10- Gerardo Zapata / Daniel Valladares for close the top 10 actually.

Stop with the fanboy accusations weirdo. There’s no creativity from you idiots.

I just watched a fight where Sasaki knocked his opponent out cold where he celebrated, smiled and didn’t seemed not to care about his opponents condition. You expect American fights to be humble when others are not. That’s not happening.
