No what he's done is try and protect his fighter-

Thurman was suppose to beat Collazo easily but didn't
Broner was suppose to beat Porter but didn't
Garcia is suppose to beat Malignaggi easy but probably won't.

I very much doubt with the minute exception of Porter (when it was really more about Broner losing) not one fighter will gain anything from those fights.

If they had been in the more evenly matched fights I suggested the winner advances onto something.

Thurman v Porter- winner is a clear top 5 Welter and is a big player in the division
Garcia v Broner- winner (Garcia) increases drawing power and becomes a bigger name
Malinaggi v Collazo- winner becomes somewhat relevant again

I agree that better matches could have been made.

But you act like Haymon's matchmaking this year has been worse than every other promoters' matchmaking this year and the years prior. It hasn't. It's been the exact same quality. Which is frustrating, yes. 'Tis the problem of loving boxing and being a fan. But at least they are on non-subscription or cheap cable package networks...

And your explanations really sound strange and opposite of your sentiment, which I do actually largely agree with. Aren't fighters supposed to struggle and get upset? Isn't that a sign of good matchmaking?

On a side note, if you think Thurman struggled with Collazo beyond the one 30 second stretch where he was hurt bad to the body, you really are crazy. He won every single round, clearly, except for that one and made Collazo quit on his stool before the championship rounds. How is that possibly struggling in any way? It's not.
